Thank you to everyone who donated costumes so that our shelter pets can share the Halloween fun! Let's kick off our virtual costume parade with Chula dressed as the cutest pterodactyl since the ice age. This playful pup has been known to catch treats mid-air but she is really hoping her caveman rider will guide her to someone's heart. Give us a call if you would like to let her land in your lap.

When Reyna Guzman e-mailed to share her adoption story, we were moved by the love she felt for her newly adopted pup, Papi (previously Kevin). Althogh adoption may not have been their initial choice, Reyna and her partner, Jade, ultimately found the perfect pup in this lucky boy. We couldn't be happier for them! "Last month, for my birthday, I was looking forward to purchasing a dachshund pup I had seen an ad for online. I readied the house, purchased dog toys, treats, food, ...and beds for around the house. Unfortunately it turned out to be a huge scam and there was no puppy to be delivered; I was out money and this news created a hole in my heart and definitely put a damper into my special day. The day after my partner was browsing online to chert me up and saw your facility had a dog up for adoption named "kevin". I wanted to see him, but your shelter was minutes away from closing time, so I spoke with an associate at the office, and she said we were welcome to come down the next day to meet him. The following day we showed up, so excited to see if we were a match. Your adoption process was so simple, and made the "match-making " smooth. I knew I wanted "kevin" when the assistant brought him out to see us. He was the happiest young pup, wiggling and happy to be outside; his tail wagging and tongue ready for kisses. You could tell that he was really such a sweetheart. The assistant mentioned that he had come to the shelter with a "sister/mom" and he would probably do well with other animals. I took her advice an introduced him to his new family, patiently waiting at home. The purpose of me reaching out and sharing our story is because you guys were right about this pup, and we are so in love with him. He is kind, sweet, patient and soo loving! I just wanted to send out a personal thank you, for all you guys did for him before he came into my care. We changed his name from "kevin" to Papí. Below are some photo updates I have attached to this email. Papí is the best addition to our home, and just in time for the Holidays! Warmest Regards, Reyna, Jade, & Fur Family'

His name may be Sebastian, but this kitty is more cowboy cool than flounder. He has been unbothered around dogs, other cats, even chickens. Got treats? Sebastian is game if it means he'll get a goody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIx8A4_wJV0

One year ago, Lina Arredondo opened her heart to a shelter dog and we are so grateful that she did! Lina sent us this update: "She goes everywhere with us; we do a lot of camping and she loves it. She’s a very sweet dog and very sociable with other pets as well as humans now. I would highly recommend for anyone that is looking for a pet to adopt before anything, adopted pets are so loyal and loving." Thank you, Lina, for adopting and giving a shelter pet a second chance!

Adoption update from Theresa Byrne who adopted the cat formerly known as Ginger one year ago today: "My daughter and I were just talking about her adoptavesary yesterday. She is a delight. We changed her name to Mango. Cannot imagine our home without her. She fit right in with our boy cats and is the Princess of our house. Thank you." Thank you to the Byrne family for giving a shelter pet a loving home and to foster mom, Alyssa Diaz, for giving this orphaned kitten a great start!

Help us promote shelter pet adoptions with a little Halloween fun! We are in need of pet costumes (new or used) to show off how cute and silly our shelter pets can be. We would especially love to get some of our big pups into the Halloween spirit, so large dog costumes are especially needed.

Exuberant and playful Miss Daisy, has a special request for our amazing community.... She and her shelter buddies are in search of new toys! As you can imagine, our dogs go though a lot of toys!
