We are saddened to learn of the passing of C.B. Burdick, one of Mira Costa's finest teachers. We received this note from his son Mike: "It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share with you the loss of another MCHS legend. He was an explorer and an educator who would just light up when he would find that student that loved science as much as he did. He was a businessman and a friend, He was a husband, father, a grandfather and a great grandfather. Some of you knew him as Mr. Burdick and if you were lucky you knew him as C.B. I just knew him as Dad.... and he will be sorely missed."

Comedian Chris Garcia (class of 1995) made his national television debut last night on the Late Late Show w/ James Cordon and he killed! (Killed is a good thing in the comedy world).
Attention Alums! On November 16th, John Featherstone (class of '67 and a Mira Costa Hall of Famer) is being honored as they name the El Camino football field "Featherstone Field." John coached the Warriors for 31 years, was named National Coach-of-the-Year, sent players to the NFL, and was a mentor for hundreds and hundreds of former players. The ceremony will take place at noon before the El Camino homecoming game and there will be a roped-off area just for Costa alums.
Yesterday we posted video of Fisher Gym's demolition. Here's some of the new construction. The new athletic complex will be ready for the 2020-21 school year. "Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning. - Benjamin Franklin
Time-lapse video of the demolition of Fisher Gym. While this might bring a tear to your eye, we'll post the videos of the new gym construction soon and it'll brighten your day.
