Join us in the Lab for Hand-building & Painting Ceramic Sculptures with Hannah Pierce on July 27, 28. In this 2 day workshop, students will learn how to create unique cups and sculptures by coil building, slab building, and sculpting methods using both hands and tools. Participants will learn how to construct and attach components, build height, and manipulate forms. Students will also discover the process of underglaze painting; treating the clay as a canvas to explore d...imension and color. Finished work will be ready for pick up a week after the workshop. Ever wanted to explore neon? Here’s your chance! Neon provides artists with the ability to transform light into text, imagery, and sculptural forms. This 3-day class will give students the technical skills to manipulate glass tubes through bending, splicing, blowing, and bombarding techniques. We will cover pattern making for more precision, graphic- and text-based neon, as well as freeform, expressive sculptural approaches.
