The development of the old BAREC site across from Valley Fair is set to move forward. "The farm-friendly housing project will provide 361 homes, with 181 at below-market rates. Of the latter, 165 will be set aside for low-income seniors. It includes a 7,500-square-foot farm. Agrihood will be on N. Winchester Blvd. across from Westfield Valley Fair at the former site of a UC Davis research facility. Although other urban farm communities exist, such as Patterson Ranch in Fremon...t, Agrihood’s will have the highest density." Projected occupancy dates begin in 2023. Thanks to neighbor Patricia Gardner for sharing this article.

Update: City services that would typically be requested through San José 311 that have either been suspended or significantly slowed are listed below with details: Vehicle Abatement, Graffiti Removal, Illegal Dumping, Pothole Repair & Streetlight Outage Vehicle Abatement: This service has been suspended and is not currently acting on requests from the public. Parking and Traffic Control Officers are proactively patrolling every street in the city every 7-10 days and citing an...d towing vehicles that are non-operational or pose a health, safety, or extreme blight hazard. This approach allows us to equitably provide service to the whole city with limited budgetary and staffing resources. Graffiti Removal: Graffiti is still abated within 72 hours of being reported. However, due to location, weather, or surface, abatement times may vary. Gang and offensive graffiti is removed within 1 business day. In order to have gang/offensive graffiti elevated, please call the graffiti program directly at (408) 975-723 Illegal Dumping: Due to the City's response to COVID-19, and the substantial increase in illegal dumping following shelter in place, the RAPID (Removing and Preventing Illegal Dumping) team's response to reports of illegal dumping may be delayed up to 7 to 10 business days. Large problem areas may take longer to resolve. Dumping not in the City's jurisdiction (on freeway off-ramps, railroad tracks, creeks, etc.) is not under the City's control and requires coordination with other agencies, which can take significant time. Pothole Repair: Pothole service requests are still being responded to in a timely manner, with response times depending on type, location, and depth of the pothole. Most requests are resolved within 48 hours. This is an essential service and has not been delayed due to COVID-19. Streetlight Outage: This program is currently operational with slight delays. Common streetlight outages are repaired within 16 business days. More complex situations like streetlight poles that have been knocked down will vary. If the situation is urgent, such as exposed wires or a damaged pole, please call (408) 277-8956. Information provided by the City of San Jose Office of the D6 Councilmember

Many petitions against removing residential zoning in San Jose and instead sticking with the existing general plan to focus high density housing in urban villages are circulating. Here is WGNA's which reads: "Dear Mayor Sam Liccardo and San Jose City Council,... I am writing to you today to oppose the proposal which would eliminate single family zoning throughout San Jose. This proposal would forever change the character of our San Jose neighborhoods. Before our neighborhoods are irreparably changed, San Jose should continue to implement the existing Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan which shields neighborhoods and focuses on Urban Villages." Here is it's link: http://www.wgna.net/save_single_family_houses
