Excerpt from #Chill: Turn Off Your Job and Turn On Your Life with permission from the author and publisher It’s a fact. One way for you to chill in your workspace is to enjoy the natural outdoors as much as you can. If you’re a workaholic, you’re notorious for spending inordinate amounts of time working indoors. Scientists say outdoor time is the ticket to revitalizing your health. Just twenty minutes a day in a park or natural setting raises and sustains your energy level a...nd recalibrates a fatigued brain. If that’s not possible, a view of Mother Nature from a window scenes of wooded areas, water, sunsets, wildlife, or parks can lower your heart rate and respiration and relax your muscles. Consider taking five-minute strolls outside during the workday or up and down a flight of stairs in bad weather. Studies show that you perform better at work after a walk in the woods rather than along a busy street. So find a park or have lunch in a natural setting. Sit by a fountain or go to a zoo when you have a break. Feel the breeze on your face, notice the colors and smells of leaves and flowers, pay attention to chirping crickets, warbling birds, or rushing water. .

Pets are family! According to California Family Code Section 2605: (a) The court, at the request of a party to proceedings for dissolution of marriage or for legal separation of the parties, may enter an order, prior to the final determination of ownership of a pet animal, to require a party to care for the pet animal. The existence of an order providing for the care of a pet animal during the course of proceedings for dissolution of marriage or for legal separation of the p...arties shall not have any impact on the court’s final determination of ownership of the pet animal. (b) Notwithstanding any other law, including, but not limited to, Section 2550, the court, at the request of a party to proceedings for dissolution of marriage or for legal separation of the parties, may assign sole or joint ownership of a pet animal taking into consideration the care of the pet animal. Under this new rule, individuals are allowed to petition for custody of a pet. The judges who look at these petitions will be allowed to consider who primarily cared for the pet when determining sole ownership, or if the couple should have joint custody of the animal. A judge may inquire, for instance, as who walked the dog the most, who took the cat to their appointments at the vet, who fed the bunny its meals every day, or which spouse purchased the horse in the first place. While the law is fairly unprecedented in the United States, Alaska and Illinois do have similar statutes on the books, both of which went into effect in 2017. However, California’s law is the most specific so far in attempting to establish pet custody, and already, it appears as if other states are looking at the new California statute as a model for establishing similar rules.

Couples who received active mediation reported higher satisfaction than non-mediated couples at the end of the conflict. THIS IS ALL TOO COMMON, BUT PREVENTABLE! Re: VP Nominee Kamala Harris - The divorce was bitter. Ms. Harris recalls inviting both her parents to her high school graduation, even though I knew they wouldn’t speak to each other, and initially fearing that her mother would not show up. (She did, in a very bright red dress and heels, Ms. Harris wrote.) Dr. Harris, in his 2018 essay, said his early, close contact with his daughters came to an abrupt halt after a contentious ...custody battle. He said the divorce settlement had been based on the false assumption by the State of California that fathers cannot handle parenting (especially in the case of this father, ‘a neegroe from da eyelans,’ was the Yankee stereotype, who might just end up eating his children for breakfast!) Nevertheless I persisted, never giving up on my love for my children. See more
