A Message from Our President/CEO 2020 has been one of the most challenging years to endure. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the lives of millions of people in the United States and across the world. At Continental Interpreting, I have seen my team face many obstacles that the pandemic has brought to our business and industry. Through it all, they have been resilient, positive and committed to serving our clients and supporting our network of linguists. I am prou...d, and grateful, for each and every one of them. I also want to commend interpreters in our industry who have adapted to remote interpreting in such a short period of time. Remote Interpreting can be very challenging, and most on-site interpreters were never formally trained in it prior to the pandemicessentially thrown into it overnight. Kudos to interpreters, for their ability to adapt to a new norm of interpreting this year. Lastly, I want to thank those of you that have been concerned for my health after hearing about the news in our February newsletter. As you may know, on January 1, 2020, I was in a terrible horseback riding accident in Colombia that almost took my life. I broke 11 ribs, a scapula and collar boneall on the same side. Fortunately, I had excellent medical attention from day one and the support of my immediate family to help get me through nearly one month in the ICU. Months later mid-pandemic, I required follow-up rib surgery. While I’m not fully recovered yet, I see positive progress every day and hope to be 100% healed in the months ahead. Thank you for the prayers and positive thoughts sent my way. As the COVID-19 numbers continue to spike this winter, it’s important for us all to do our part to slow the spread. Please stay safe. Remember to remain positive as we get through this difficult time. I hope 2021 will bring better fortune to us all and a return to some of the activities we have so greatly missed this year with family, friends and our communities. Warmest Regards, Luis Echeverry President/CEO . . . #translation #interpretation #remoteinterpreters #happyholidays

Feliz día de muertos! Happy Day of the Dead! . Although you might think Día de muertos is a sad holiday, it's actually meant to be a positive celebration. . The holiday is a day to show respect to loved ones, reflect about life, and honor one’s dead relatives. Those who celebrate Día de muertos often assemble "ofrendas," altars with those relatives' pictures, Mexican marigolds, and anything their relatives loved when they were alive, such as tequila, cookies, or other... treats. Have you wondered why Mexican marigolds are used in the ofrendas on Day of the Dead? . Marigolds are considered the "flower of the dead" and guide relatives' spirits to their altars on the holiday. . Do you celebrate Día de muertos? How do YOU celebrate it? . . . . . #dayofthedead #translation #interpreters #events #citycouncil #virtualevent #virtualmeetings #culture

Before the pandemic, many children faced the dark reality of living in abusive home environments. With distance learning, many children have lost access to a safe environment away from an abusive one. . Childhelp is a non-profit organization that helps to prevent and treat child abuse. They provide housing and support programs to children that are abused in the United States. . According to Childhelp, an average of 4 to 7 children die every day in the United States from chi...ld abuse and neglect. .
