Console Enterprises 09.11.2020

Our heart goes out to everyone in Florida as Irma makes landfall. We don't have any beta testers in Florida (that we're aware of), but we do in Georgia. If you are a beta tester in Irma's path, please reach out if you have issues. (To everyone else, sorry, we may not announce this one until around CES - but as before, we want to get the word out efficiently to testers that may be without power).

To all of our super secret beta testers in Texas, don't worry about billing. We're not running/freezing billing for anyone in Texas right now. We'll re-evaluate next month. (To everyone else, sorry - we don't have great ways to communicate with this user base right now... especially if they are impacted in Texas).

We're attending Google #io17 - All this week for meetings. We'll have more updates (including new stuff) for everyone some time next week! (We know it's a bit unorthodox to not rant/rave about a demo we give - but we got invited to I/O at the very very last minute). #staytuned

Surprise. We're demoing something new at the Intel #io17 Day 0 Party. More to follow.

We're wrapping up what has been a very long, sudden, and unexpected office move - caused by an unforseeable maintenance issue at our old office. While all of that means delays, as well as (literal) blood, sweat and tears, we are in the office on #EarthDay, deploying LED lighting to replace most of the flourescent lighting that was in our new office. It may cost us a full working day, but we'll break even on the endeavor within the first six months... Assuming the ceiling doesn't cave in on us (again...).

We're moving! Due to unforeseen maintenance issues, we have to move offices this week. It was an unexpected, painful interruption that we encountered recently - but we're rolling with the punches and the moving trucks are rolling tomorrow. Apologizes for delays, but we have a great new place.

Despite some other teams breaking up, and possibly giving up altogether, we're pressing on with the vision of Android on PC and IoT - and yes, on IA/x86.

Right now, we're basically waiting for some rubber-stamps from partners. We think we're (finally!) ready to start taking #ConsoleTab orders in the very near future.

Changes are afoot. We hope to have another progress report this weekend with the latest on ConsoleTab, and more! #staytuned

Depending on interpretation, new rules proposed by the California Energy Commission could add thousands in expenses per model sold by small startups in the PC space. While these rules offer an exemption for businesses that generate less than $2 million in revenue, they are capped at 40 devices sold. This is a low, arbitrary number that may make the exemption useless. Even a "mom and pop" PC maker that sells 4 PCs per month, could have to have each unique PC they sell, sent fo...r $600+ in energy testing. We oppose these new rules, and we have filed comments today with the Commission that go into greater detail why. While these efforts take a day or two to delay launching our new products, we feel it's important for us to make sure the next Console - isn't frozen out of California. http://docketpublic.energy.ca.gov//TN214157_20161024T14113 [PDF]

Quick #ConsoleTab keyboard update, we should have samples of the redesigned, more affordable docking keyboard in final testing very shortly.

Hi all, a quick Friday update. We're getting settled in to our new office. Paperwork is still flying on that front, but we finally got a solid data line in there. Our shopping cart tests over the past week, yielded some issues with fees being charged during the pre-order signup process for residents in California. While these orders aren't final (or processed/charged) until the pre-orders are confirmed (when we're ready to go to manufacturing), we do want to make sure that st...uff is accurate from day-one, so we're going to work through the weekend to fix that. We're not saying things will open up next week, but we're hopeful. If things change, we'll keep you posted.
