Congratulations to all of the finalists of the Google ML competition--we were very impressed! Although it was a difficult decision, we are proud to announce the DCVC Choice Award--BrainSpec! They will receive at least $500K in DCVC investment and Google Cloud credit. This remarkable team, born out of Harvard Medical School, is on a mission to change how life threatening neurological diseases (e.g. Tumors, Metabolic Diseases, Traumatic Brain Injury) are treated. Using a mass...ive dataset along with proprietary deep neural nets and machine learning algorithms, BrainSpec will help *non-invasively* diagnose and track these diseases more accurately than ever before. Their Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy quantification software allows doctors to easily see chemical changes in the brain associated with injuries and pathologies, which occur earlier than the anatomical changes observable in traditional MRI.
