For many of us, the High Holy Days is a time we look forward to being together in our own beautiful sanctuary, praying, reflecting and sharing the transformative power of these special days. As we look to this coming New Year, we acknowledge that it is going to be very different year than any other time in our lives. Yes, we will have services that will be broadcast so that everyone can participate in them. We will still be able to hear our Hazan sing, share words of Torah, a...nd reflect on the themes of the Holy Days, but what about the chance to be in our Sanctuary? How do we find the opportunity to stand in front of our open ark, with the Torah scrolls dressed in white, say our personal prayers and sing Avinu Malkeinu? Rabbi Earne and I have worked to create just this opportunity with the Meaningful Moments program, during which families will be able to join one of us in the sanctuary for a special short ceremony in front of the Aron Hakodesh. It is a chance to spend some time with your family in one of our community’s most special places and anchor our spiritual selves to the values and ideas brought forward by the Yomim Noraim (High Holy Days). Each family who wishes to participate may set up a time with one of us over these coming weeks prior to Rosh Hashanah, and we will meet you in the front of the Ark with prayers and song. We will hear the sound of the shofar (safely), and we will share a special moment to prepare for the New Year. If you would like to join us for this opportunity, please arrange a time with one of your rabbis through Bonnie by clicking here. She will be happy to set up a time that works for you. We look forward to seeing you in our sanctuary and sharing in the hope for a healthy and happy New Year. Rabbi David Kornberg
