Sending a BIG thank you to our friends at Quiring General for their donations to Terry's House!! They rallied together to not only donate a delicious meal for our guests, but also sweet treats and kitchen goods to keep our pantry stocked. Terry's House is a home-away-from-home for families of critical care patients. It's a place where they can eat, sleep and recharge helping them stay strong for their loved one in the hospital. "I think sometimes people don't realize how difficult it is for everybody that's gone through this. I think for [people] that go in to medicine, this is why you do it... this allows you to give back to the community and show why you trained in what you did." Our System Chief Medical Officer Dr. Thomas Utecht explains that though the coronavirus hit our hospital system hard, it was the advanced planning and ongoing passion of our team that helped us continue battling even in the toughest times. #strongertogether

When Cathryn Lencioni's family was displaced by the Creek Fire in early September, her co-worker Ashley sprung into action. "I work with Ashley in the ICU on opposite shifts. She was one of the first people to call, text and check-in on me and my family. She single-handedly formed a collection of necessities via social media platforms for me and all of my mountain community. I spoke of a few special homeowners that I knew who lost everything and thought that they may need ...some things just to get them started," Cathryn said. "She immediately obtained clothes, healthcare items, toiletries, toys for kids, diapers and so on before the first week of the evacuation hit. I am still overwhelmed by her kindness and giving. When I went to her home to pick up a few items for some displaced families, she had her entire entryway and family room stacked with items. Ashley is a true healthcare hero, she solely considered the well being of her community and the community of others without a second thought. She does not know these people, and will probably never meet these people, yet she has given her time and complete love to all of them. I am extremely lucky to have her as coworker, friend and community activist." Thank you, Ashley, for exemplifying what it means to be a #healthcarehero inside and outside our hospital walls!
