Columbia Nursery and Florist 09.11.2020

Columbia Nursery and Florist is changing hands, and changing business focus. Pete and Karen Luckhardt, owners of Inner Sanctum Cellars will be taking over ownership of the property and some of the existing businesses. The cafe, florist shop and event site will continue under their management. The Luckhardts will be transforming the main building into a tasting room, and landscaping the outdoor area to accommodate large groups, weddings and parties. The nursery will be ch...anging into a seasonal nursery run by the previous owners Tricia and Matt Peller. The nursery will open during the peak planting season for the foothills, April via June. This will allow for the community to benefit from the Peller’s extensive nursery sources for area appropriate plants, while allowing them to focus on other interests the rest of the year. All this change is going to happen in August 2018. Keep your eyes peeled for the nursery end of season sale that should start any day now. This will be a great time to stock up for any landscaping projects you have. Also, this will be the time to use up any outstanding gift certificates. The Luckhardts and the Pellers are very excited about their new endeavors. Be sure to stop by and check out all the great changes the new owners are implementing, and perhaps taste some delicious local wine while you are at it.

By popular demand, we have started serving diners to private parties of 10 or more. We have had a couple of RV groups pre order off the menu and we have done some buffet dinners for larger groups. Everyone has raved about the great food and beautiful setting. Doesn't it sound like a great way to celebrate a birthday or a treat for some visiting friends? Give us a call to book. 532-6871

Can I just take a moment to gush.. I can’t express enough what a privilege it is to design flowers. This is not a plug for me and my shop. I am sure all florist feel this way. Right now it’s late on a Friday and I am designing arrangements for a celebration for 21 year kid that died in a tree felling accident. As I am plugging away kind of late on a Friday, this is in no way a burden. I met his grieving mother and sister. A friend of the young man’s family is a good fri...end of mine. With each stem of beauty I weave though the greens, I think about their faces, their grief, and I can only pour my love into what I am doing. Earlier today I built a small arrangement for some friends of ours that just gave birth to their first baby after being told they could never have children, having adopted two beautiful children, and were blessed by a surprise pregnancy and now have a brand new baby girl to embrace into their family. That small arrangement, what a privilege. Next week I get to create for three brides, so different from each other, so excited for the days to come, and I am so excited for the contribution I get to make. Whether I know the family personally, or I am designing for someone unknown, each time I create, it is after I read the who to, and the card, and I personally plug away with that vision, thinking of them receiving something completely special and created just for that situation. Once again, not speaking for myself only. It’s just so neat, this one small roll I play in some event, small or large. The little roll of playing with yummy gorgeous tidbits of God’s creation and getting them to some event, a little or a lotta special, and filling a glass of water with greenery and with lots of love. I truly enjoy what I do See more

Springs is a springing! The color is amazing, and the last few days of warm weather have made everything around here POP. Right now we have a great selection of magnolias and dogwoods. If you hurry you might be able to grab up one of our last bare root fruit trees or ornamentals before we pot them up. We have just started to sneak in some spring veggies and annuals, but yes it's too early unless you have a greenhouse. But you can plant, and we have lots of: Strawberries, ...artichokes, rhubarb, asparagus, and perennials of your choice. PLANNING a SHOWER or PARTY? Our outdoor dining area is perfect and booking now. Call us for reservations 532-6871.
