How do you stay inspired with your every day salon work? Believe me...I LOVE a good OG Balayage, American Tailoring or Foilayage technique. It’s pretty damn inspiring customizing these hair painting techniques for clients but when a guest asks for a little EXTRA flair it just gets my creative energies exploding! I have been doing @londonalexis highlights since she was just a wee thang and I’m so happy to still be her colorist of choice as she embarks onto her new adve...ntures and music career in LA. For this session she asked for some pink and purple pops to represent her brand. I 1st customized a full head of foilayage then went back in with Socolor Cult Flamenco Fuchsia & Royal purple in a balayage technique. What has a client asked you to do in-salon recently that has your creative juices flowing?? QWEEN After Sheltering in Place for over 2 months I don’t think any of us had done our hair, put make-up, never mind gotten out of our sweatpants in weeks! What gave me life during this period was the opportunity to work with my collab team once again. Once the OC opened up in May (for those few weeks), @muyvette rallied models and even acquired a private home for us to work in for the weekend. I literally could not wait to jump in the car, drive down to LA and see my... Dream Team again. I couldn’t wait to wake up & make-up again!!! As always we had the most amazing time together and once again created some pretty badass content! This gorgeous girl just radiates and personifies the term QWEEN in my mind. We were all in awe of her natural beauty and her sweet demeanor. Strong, beautiful and kind...that is a Queen! YESSSS it’s true!!! I AM OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS! I am very excited to announce the opening of my private Color Studio in Mill Valley, CA. After 25 years at diPietro Todd Salons and Academy I have decided to create a boutique environment for myself and my guests. What this time out of the salon has made me realize is that I really enjoy one on one time with my clients. I also realize how much value having balance in life means and I have actually embraced this fo...rced slow-down period. I used to work 5 long days in salon and full weekends teaching for Matrix. I was constantly traveling; in & out of airports SO much that I actually envied the travelers departing for their destinations as I was arriving at my home airport. Unbelievable right? That WAS my life. Now I look forward to some calm, balance and just doing beautiful work in a private, serene space designed to promote safely and relaxation for all.
