You guys...I’ve been silent. I’ve given social media a break. Because the last thing we all need, is another rant about how messed up everything is right now. But, I CANT with this anymore. . MARCH 17, 2020. . That is the last time I worked in my beautiful salon that I put everything into opening. And here we are...... . AUGUST FREAKING FIRST. . 5 months. It’s been 5 months. . I just don’t understand!! How can so many businesses be open but we can’t? It’s horrible! Especially considering most all of us went to school for 600-1000+ hours and spent the Bulk of that learning safety and sanitation, and then went through rigorous testing on it, and then get randomly inspected for it every year, fined if we don’t uphold it etc. and some of us (me) turned around to teach it, for years! . But Target can stay open at just about max capacity the entire time with next to no training. It makes NO sense! And I can’t even with the fact that places like target are essential. Tshirts and Makeup aren’t essential. For some people, skincare IS essential. Massage IS essential. I know for people like myself with autoimmune disorders, massage is medical. For elderly women who cannot wash their own hair, a hair salon IS essential. For those who get chronic painful ingrown toenails, pedicures are essential. What about how much beauty procedures help mental health and self image which a lot of people are severely struggling with right now?? This isn’t just about the money our businesses and selves are lacking right now. But also, it is. And it’s not selfish to say so. Our life investments, our livelihoods, the dinner on our tables at nights, literally depends on our careers. I didn’t fall into being a licensed esthetician because my college experience didn’t pan out. I saved money, worked hard, and made a plan to go to beauty school. I pay my student loans monthly like any other college degree. I take pride in my career. It’s what I have dreamed of doing since I was young. And now, I’ve been told it’s unsafe, unsanitary, and ILLEGAL. What and the actual eff. And don’t EVEN get me on the whole opening outdoors BS. Talk about unsafe and unsanitary. Rant over..... #opensalonsnow
