Everyday and every month is a day to celebrate Black History. This Black History month, we want to Spotlight the amazing Black change makers on our team, starting with Ms. Mildred! Ms. Mildred is our Bayview PMAC Organizer. She never fails to make you feel supported and is all around full of good vibes! Black lives Matter in education means to me: High expectations for Black students; Making sure all involved know that Black parents want their children educated; And an ...equal opportunity for our children to compete in all academic areas; Teaching our history in schools so we can take pride in who we are and what we have contributed to this country; That Black families are treated like humans and are respected and treated fair. It means Black parents have a right to be a part of their children’s education. We have a right to sit at the table to be apart of planning a better curriculum to help our children succeed. It means dismantling the school to prison pipeline removing all disparities in education. Removing implicit biases and racist thinking in institutions that serve our families and children and preparing our children in K-12.
