Throughout our surveys, unhoused residents across the city articulated their vision for #CARTSF. A program of care, of community which has incentives to actually communicate & collaborate with unhoused folks not just respond tothem as a nusiance or problem. #carenotcriminalization

Since 1996, shelter residents have had robust eviction protections. Now, the City & Department Officials are mulling changing to a new policy with strips those protections away. During a pandemic ... Shall I repeat? During a pandemic.... Why are we trying to make it easier to kick people to the curb? Seeking unhoused San Franciscans, those living in shelters, SIP Hotels, trailers, etc. to speak Thursday at 2pm!

We gotta fight back when Bay Area politicians try to criminalize and demonize homeless folks, especially during a pandemic! Call Oakland City Councilmembers and urge them to oppose this encampment ban! #StoptheEMP

Stop the Encampment Mismanagement Policy - a policy created based on input from a survey filled out by primarily white home owners - is an attack against oakland's most vulnerable Black, Brown &Indigenous residents. Checkout the map to see that 98% of Oakland will be illegal for unhoused folks to exist. The grey areas are were policed camps will be. Outta site, outta mind. Out the way and invisible. In areas where there is no public transportation, no grocery stores, no gym...s for folks to take showers, no libraries, no schools for the unhoused children to go to, no senior centers, no resources. Instead of housing and healing Oaklands unhoused (a primarily Black community), millions will be used to beef up police and create the invisible favellas of Oakland. Is that how million$ should be used? Today the coalition to stop the encampment mistreatment policy is asking oakland to clog up phone lines and inboxes telling them to vote no on the policy. The Town deserves deeply affordable housing to solve homlessness, not beefed up police to make the unhoused invisible. Below are phone numbers, emails and sample scripts. Flood their inboxes till 5pm today. If you don't get it today, do it tomorrow!

We have an exit plan!!!! For the remaining 11 households in our program that do not have tiny houses or campers, we will be getting running RVs and campers to exit them into. We will be getting a huge chunk of money in the next couple weeks that will cover 80% of the costs to buy 2 RVs and 9 campers that run are can be registered. Why rvs and campers? Cuz there is no permanent housing to exit our folks into Of the 46 household that have been in Hotels Not Graves we have onl...y exited 3 into permanent housing and they had to leave Oakland to be housed with Rvs and campers that work, our people will have autonomy to move about as they please, they wont be at risk of tows and impoundment, they can utilize the alameda interfaith council safe park, they wont be exiting back into a tent. We need your help to keep our folks in the hotels until december 31st - thru the coldest months of the 2nd wave of Covid19. Until we have purchased all the vehicles. Thank you for your continued support with this life saving COVID19 intervention.

HELL YEAH!!!! Moms 4 Housing "Nearly a year after Moms 4 Housing became a national sensation by squatting in an empty West Oakland home, the group on Friday announced another victory: That house will soon become the first of many that members hope to turn into housing for homeless mothers. After months of negotiations with corporate owner Wedgewood, Oakland Community Land Trust bought the Magnolia Street house for $587,500. Now, Moms 4 Housing intends to turn it into a trans...itional home where mothers can stay while looking for jobs, getting their credit in order and finding permanent housing. The home also will serve as a center for Moms 4 Housing’s next project. In partnership with the Alameda Labor Council and the Rising Sun Center for Opportunity, the group intends to train unhoused mothers in contracting work and then employ them to renovate other vacant homes to create additional affordable housing. An emotional Dominique Walker, one of the founding Moms 4 Housing members, announced the deal Friday. This is officially Moms’ house, she said, standing on the steps of the home as supporters cheered. This moment is so special to me. Today is my son’s second birthday. He took his first steps in this house.
