We all know that the City of Clovis has the best Seniors around, but now, here’s proof that our younger generation is just as special! Meet Tessa Bernardo, who reached out the Clovis Senior Activity Center saying she wanted to do something to connect with our local seniors during this rough time, and to let them know that members of the community are thinking of them as many are homebound and alone during the pandemic. This Mickey Cox Elementary 4th grader, with the support a...nd encouragement of her mother Stephanie Navarro, spent her own time and resources to make 20 handmade, unique St. Patrick’s Day cards for us to share with our seniors. They turned out great! Tessa did not write any messages in the cards to personalize them, saying that she hoped the seniors would either keep and enjoy them or feel free to send the cards to a friend in need. We will be mailing the cards on Tessa’s behalf to homebound seniors, who will no doubt benefit from this kind gesture. Tessa is not done yet. She is now working on making 20 more cards for Easter, which we will also mail out when completed. We look forward to sharing those cards with you here on our social media in the weeks to come. Thank you Tessa (and Mom!) for caring and giving of your time and talents! A big THANK YOU to Humana, who is providing a monthly birthday celebration goodie bag to members of the Clovis Senior Activity Center. Humana has partnered with St. Agnes and Central Valley Medial Providers (MedPro) to donate items which include: coloring books, puzzles, word search, nail files, face masks, and hand sanitizer which will be distributed to seniors who are receiving the meals on the Clovis Senior Cares Meal Program. We wish we were able to gather in person to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, but until we can meet face-to-face again, we do want to thank HUMANA as they help us honor and celebrate our Seniors.

Our Drive-Thru Resource Fair at the Clovis Senior Activity Center, 850 4th Street in Clovis is underway! We will be providing our Seniors information on transportation, food assistance, health care, insurance, counseling services, and more in a safe and convenient way until 10am or until supplies last. Our friendly staff is standing by to wish you a Super day!

Are you ready to shake it up and get moving and grooving? Mary is back with her fun and effective Zumba dance fitness class that will give you a total workout. This class combines elements of muscle conditioning, balance, and flexibility with a cardio foundation. We will be exercising in the Senior Center breezeway so wear layers you can remove as you warm up. You must sign up and register at https://cityofclovisrecreation.com/current-programs All equipment will be provided. ...Bring your own water bottle and towel. No public restrooms available so plan accordingly. This class open to everyone 50 years old or better. Each class is $5. Class times are: Mondays at 10:15am Wednesday at 10:15am Fridays at 10:15am

The Clovis Senior Activity Center is now offering John's Yoga on Tuesdays at 5:30pm and Wednesday at 3:00pm. Starting on Tuesday, October 27, Kelly's Bookclub will be on Tuesdays at 10:00am. Great news! The Clovis Senior Activity Center has resumed offering classes. We are now offering outdoor Yoga classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00am and outdoor Exercise Classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00am.... All classes $5 each. Space is very limited. Each day, a team of city staff members and local volunteers deliver meals to hundreds of our deserving senior residents. It's part of a City of Clovis program to make sure our seniors are provided weekly meals, while also supporting our local restaurants.

Please no walk-up service and remain in your vehicle at all times. Masks and social distancing are required. Community vendors will have the opportunity to decorate their tables with the theme of Superhero. You will have the ability to vote on your favorite. The winner will be announced on October 29th.
