Employer discrimination takes the form of an adverse employment action based on an employee's membership in a protected class. Protected classes include: race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, or military and veteran status.

Discrimination in the workplace happens. It's important to know what to look for. Discrimination at work takes the form of an "adverse employment action" based on a "protected characteristic or class." An adverse employment action could be: termination, demotion, failure to promote, loss of hours, change in schedule, change in duties, change in location of work, change of pay, or other employment decision that negatively affects the employee.
