DISTRICT BOND MEASURE ON BALLOT Clovis Unified has a facilities bond on the November ballot. Some have questioned why now, in the midst of the current pandemic conditions, would the district ask voters to consider this measure. Put simply, we need our community’s input about CUSD’s future. We are out of space in many of our schools and out of money to continue to maintain, update and build new schools. Without new funding, the district will have to consider massive districtwi...de student boundary changes, double sessions or year-round schools in order to accommodate the growing student population. Additionally, Clovis Unified schools (many of which were built 40 or more years ago) would not receive the current high-standard of maintenance the district is known for, and upgrades would be postponed or not happen at all. Measure A is a $335 million bond that does not raise the tax rate. It would provide locally controlled dollars for: Security auto-door locks and advanced ventilation upgrades to every school Construction of new schools to create space necessary to avoid widespread boundary changes, double sessions or year-round schools. This is a critical time to hear from our constituents on how to proceed. We encourage you to learn the facts about Measure A and cast your vote in the November election. CUSD TOWN HALL, JULY 22 An online Return to School Town Hall regarding the opening of the 2020-21 school year will be streamed at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, on ...Clovis Unified’s YouTube channel. The event will feature discussion and examples illustrating what a school day might look like in the various formats that may occur this year, such as online or in-class, as well as details of the full online model required under the state’s current mandates. When allowed, the district will return to the decision of the Governing Board to provide learning options for students to either be online or on campus, with extension of the selection to be reconsidered as needed. Families are to indicate their child’s learning model selection during the Annual Information Update that is taking place now through ParentConnection. The deadline is Friday, July 24. Although we are under the governor’s current orders, parents need to complete this process now so plans can be in place when the directive is lifted. The Return to School Health & Safety Plan is on the district’s website for further review to assist families with this decision. The Town Hall will be at 5 p.m. July 22 at https://www.youtube.com/user/clovisusd/feed. Questions prior to the Town Hall may be submitted online at: https://app.smartsheet.com//8fa850560cbf44ac84bcd0185add29 .
