As legal counsel for thousands of wildfire victims, we want to provide some tips for those of you who are currently facing the threat of wildfires. Stay safe: - Adhere to evacuation orders and leave your homes promptly if ordered to do so. Wildfires create their own weather. They push and pull and can change directions much more quickly than you may anticipate. - If you do have time to prepare for your evacuation:... - Pack your electronics and do not forget your chargers. - Pack your medications, important documents, ID and valuable personal contents that are not itemized under your insurance policy, such as expensive jewelry and art. - Take photos/videos of each room of your home so that you can more easily create a personal contents list in the event you lose your home in the fire. - Shut off gas at meter, turn off propane tanks and move BBQs away from structures. - Make an emergency plan with your family in case you get separated. Which route will you take out of your neighborhood? Where will you meet? Who will you call if you cannot get a hold of each other? - Shut all windows and doors but leave them unlocked so that firefighters can more easily access your home. - Promptly contact your insurance company to open a claim. If your home is not ultimately impacted by the fire, you can close the claim. If you need the proceed with the claim, it helps to be the first in line.

CLD&R lost a special member of our family this weekend. Ina Stewart Corey, wife of our founding partner, George Corey, passed away on Saturday morning. Please keep George in your thoughts and prayers.

The votes are still being certified, but PG&E announced this morning that wildfire victims overwhelmingly voted in favor of the PG&E Plan of Reorganization. Onward to getting our clients compensated!!
