We apologize for the late notice but just received word from HEART - Healthcare & Emergency Animal Rescue Team that tonight's scheduled clinic is canceled: "It is with great despair that we must inform you that tonight's clinic, as well as all currently scheduled clinics, have been cancelled. Some of our staff may have been exposed to COVID, so for the health, safety, and welfare of all concerned, we made the difficult, but right decision to cancel our clinics.... When we are able to schedule future clinics, the information will be posted on our website Calendar. We are deeply sorry that we cannot provide these essential services at this time, but hope to be able to recommence them in the near future. Again, this decision was made in an effort to protect everyone concerned. We hope everyone stays safe and we wish you the very best for 2021, especially good health!" www.heart4pets.org

Based on the high demand for COVID vaccines, the county is establishing Super Point-of-Dispensing locations, or Super PODs. At this time, individual cities will not host vaccination sites separate from the Super PODs. The first Super POD is located at Disneyland, with additional Super POD sites to be identified. Residents who wish to receive a vaccine can register with the ochealth vaccine and testing management app, Othena. Complete an online form and receive notification regarding appointment availability: https://othena.com/individuals.php. Visit ochealthinfo.com for more information.

At today’s Special Council Meeting, the City Council authorized the City to join an amicus brief supporting Orange County Sheriff's Department Don Barnes' appeal of a court order requiring the local jail population be cut in half, a move that would release potentially dangerous and violent criminals. The Rancho Santa Margarita City Council strongly supports the Sheriff's appeal that would maximize public safety.

At this time, there is no voluntary or mandatory evacuation for Rancho Santa Margarita. The current maps have been corrected to show the accurate evacuation boundaries which do not include the City’s Northern Sphere. The Silverado Fire is not moving toward RSM and is presently burning in and toward Modjeska Canyon which is several miles away from RSM. Any voluntary or mandatory evacuation orders will officially be made by OCSD via AlertOC, and residents would only expect to receive those if their residence is within a voluntary or mandatory evacuation area. #SilveradoFire
