City Works Press is proud to announce the publication of our latest title: Reclaiming our Stories 2, edited by City College faculty Khalid (Paul) Alexander, Manuel Paul Lopez, Darius Spearman, and Ebony Tyree. Following on the phenomenal success of the first volume of stories out of the Pillars of the Community writing project, Reclaiming Our Stories, this new collection features the voices of Southeast San Diego writers, many of whom are or were City College students and ed...ucators. Please check it out! And please also note the first two release events: the PATH Program’s Reclaiming the Humanities Speaker Series on Tuesday, March 10th from 12:45-2:10 in MS 140 at City College (refreshments will be provided and books will be on sale there) and City College’s Social Justice Conference on Wednesday, March 18th from 11:10-12:35 in MS 162. If you can’t come to one of these events, you can still buy the bookas well as our other City Works Press titlesat http://cityworkspress.org/books.html. So these two amazing City Works Press authors came and read at City College today! Check out J Medina's "The Scorpion's Mineral Eye" and Josh Turner's "Endless Blue Sky"! We'll have them on our website soon. www.cityworkspress.org We've also got a rad release reading in the works in collaboration with Verbatim Books....so stay tuned! City Works Press has two new books and a couple of readings scheduled! First up, Wednesday, September 19th at 12:45 in the Black Box Theater at City College....come hear J. Medina and Josh Turner read from their new books, The Scorpion's Mineral Eye and Endless Blue Sky (respectively). It should be fantastic!

C'mon out and support SanDiego350, one of the most effective and dedicated environmental organizations in our city! Jim Miller will be doing a fundraiser/reading at Torque Moto Cafe in North Park from 4-6 on Saturday, May 12th (tomorrow!). All proceeds from book sales will go to SanDiego350!

What a beautiful reading Jim Miller gave from his new novel LAST DAYS IN OCEAN BEACH last night at the Ocean Beach Green Center! Thank you to Colleen and Kim who were amazing hosts. We raised over $400 to help support the OB Green Center! If you couldn't make it last night, mark your calendars for either May 6th from 5-7 at Tiger!Tiger! in North Park for a book release/birthday celebration sponsored by Verbatim Books OR May 12th from 4-6 at Torque Moto Cafe in North Park for an SD350 fundraiser (all book sales will be donated to this vital environmental organization). Check it out!

Come on out this Friday at 7:00 to the Ocean Beach Green Center for this Last Days in Ocean Beach benefit reading! All the money for every book sold goes to the Center! There will be a keg of good FREE beer, wine, and snacks for all.

There are two great events coming up! Check out the Earth Day Weekend Reading to Benefit the Ocean Beach Green Center on Friday, 4/20 from 7-9 PM. OR come to Tiger! Tiger! on 5/6 from 5-7 PM to celebrate the release of Last Days in Ocean Beach AND Jim Miller's and Perry Vasquez's birthdays! Verbatim Books is the sponsor of this rad event. This new novel is about love in the anthropocene and how to grapple with catastrophic climate change while not losing our humanity. Check it out!
