STAY HOME ORDER LIFTED According to our County Health Officer, The California Department of Public Health has lifted the stay-at-home order for the Greater Sacramento region effective immediately. This is based upon the latest projections of ICU bed capacity 4 weeks into the future. We now return to the purple tier, so while there are still a number of restrictions, outdoor dining, and personal care are now able to reopen. City Manager's Update on January 8, 2021 All, Happy New Year and positive thoughts toward a better and prosperous year in 2021!... The Agenda for Monday, January 11, 2021: Commendation of retiring Fire Captain John Williamson for over 20 years of service to the City of Auburn. Extension of the Covid 19 State of Emergency for an additional 60 days. Planning Commission Appointments of Steve Galyardt and Glen Kramer. Second Reading of Fee Ordinance allowing development fee charges from consultants. The adoption of the 21-22 Recognized Obligation Payment Schedule for the City’s former redevelopment agency to be submitted to Placer County and State Department of Finance. Assimilation of Battalion Chiefs into the IAFF and resumption of associated benefits. Adoption of Reserve Police Officer job descriptions. Financing plan for 3 police vehicles. Contract for fuel reduction activities in Aeolia Heights. Advertisement of $5 million Sludge Dewatering Project Presentation from the Street History and Art Advisory Committee. A few more things working: Staff has worked with the Chamber and the Downtown Business Association on a $200,000 grant submittal to Placer County to support businesses. The program will include additional support for outdoor dining, technical assistance for online commerce, promotion and advertising, rental assistance for small businesses, direct assistance to restaurants using Food Jets delivery service and the provision of heaters and outdoor structures. This will be a significant investment toward dealing with the effects of Covid 19 and the eventual emergence from the imposed restrictions. City staff held the first Systems Committee Meeting to discuss modernization of certain internal systems for how we do business. The effort will represent a modernization of the building permitting process, GIS, Finance and Budgeting, Human Resources, Asset Management and transit technologies. Overall a really good start. The BIG item on the City Council Agenda is a $5 million sludge dewatering project which will replace an existing system. This is a really big deal and will help in a number of areas including how we process our sewer waste, lower costs for disposal and increase efficiencies at our wastewater treatment plant. Look for 2021 to be a brighter and better year than the pandemic year of 2020. We will have an opportunity to help our businesses recover and return to the business of running the City. Thanks, John John W. Donlevy, Jr., City Manager City of Auburn 1225 Lincoln Way Auburn, CA 95603 (530) 823-4211 Ext 192
