Church of Type 07.12.2020

Greetings friends, I moved from Santa Monica in the spring back to the hills of East Tennessee, I have been taking a well earned break for a few months. It is with great excitement that I can announce publicly that I will be moving to downtown Asheville, NC to open a new studio this winter. As I had previously decided to close the Church of Type and let it be a document of my west coast art experience , I wanted to create a new experience in Asheville, hence the new name. T...he new studio will be called Voodoo Rocket Inc. and we will create a new body of work under a new flag. For those keeping score ; Hatch Show Print 1993-1996 Yeehaw industries 1997-2011 The Church of Type 2012-2018 Voodoo Rocket inc. 2018- The main thing is that I am still looking for the new, for the art and I feel that my best work is ahead of me. I will be posting a new website soon and changing over to VDR At the end of the year. I hope everyone can tag along and find me in the new. Thanks everyone for your support for the last 30 years. k See more

There was once a time when dinosaurs roamed LA, when the sun was bright and we ate your culture like tacos on a paper plate. It’s all different now.

The epic journey is complete. I moved 32 tons of Letterpress type and equipment, that was the church of type 2,263 miles from Santa Monica to the mountains of East Tennessee where I will embark on a new journey of creating a new studio. It will be called The Voodoo Rocket Inc. I will tell you more about it in the coming weeks. But for now it’s good to be off the road. Thanks to all the people I met in California for your friendship and support. We’re going to do it again on a major scale and try to have even more fun. Kevin

Bittersweet goodbyes to Annie A and Sarah Stice and Alberta. There’s just no way I would have kept it together without the love and support of these two. Thank you both so much. I’m leaving a piece of my soul behind with you both. Until we meet again my friends, I’m just a phone call away
