Thank you for your patience as we navigate the tightrope of online and in-person worship! With the dramatic increase in infections in San Diego County, the Session has decided to pause our in-person worship for this Sunday and until we see the numbers go back down. I thought we did very well in person and can easily resume when we decide to so. Join us on our YouTube channel Sunday morning!

The term "in Christ" occurs 242 times in the New Testament. It must be pretty important! Join us for worship this Sunday as we look at Romans 8:1-11 and learn about all we have and are in Christ Jesus. Since we are meeting in person, we will record Sunday morning and post later. It will mean a slight delay, but will be more like being there together. Grab some bread and juice or wine as we celebrate the Lord's Supper together.

O magnify the Lord with me. Let us exalt God’s name together!

When Christ calls us he bids us come and die. Dietrich Bonhoeffer

This Sunday we are singing one of my favorite hymns: Be Thou My Vision. Both the tune and text are powerful. The tune, called SLANE, is a traditional Irish melody. The words are a translation of a medieval text attributed to St. Dallan Forgaill, a 6th century Celtic monk. He went blind in the middle of his life. Hear how the opening verse of this hymn brings his faith to his blindness: Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.... Thou my best thought, by day or by night, Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light. One of my favorite versions by Audrey Assad is attached. Try closing your eyes as you listen or sing along. To go blind in the 6th century must have been awful. How do those who experience such suffering come to such great faith? That is the question with which this Sunday’s sermon wrestles. Join us Sunday morning on YouTube or Facebook. Say the liturgy out loud. Sing the songs. Pray the prayers. Listen for God speaking to you, bringing calm into chaos, hope to despair, peace for anxiety and light dispelling darkness. May great power and peace from the Holy Spirit fill us all! Pastor Tracey

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, let us worship!

Sunday June 7 is Trinity Sunday. Celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost, Trinity Sunday is a celebration of the nature of God as three distinct persons, but completely one God: God, the Father; God the Son; and God the Holy Spirit. It’s important to know, theologian Shirley Guthrie writes, The same God who is God over us as God the Father and Creator, and God with us and for us as the incarnate Word and Son, is also God in us and among us as God the Holy Spirit." We cannot go out into the world and survive, according to Jesus, without all of God on our side. Join us for worship this Sunday on YouTube and Facebook. Gather some bread and juice or wine and join me at the Lord’s Table this week.

I inadvertently left Rose's beautiful picture out of the video in our worship service. Here is the edited version with her bringing us love and hope.

Join us this Sunday, May 24, for worship on our YouTube channel as we remember Jesus' Ascension into heaven, or as one of my colleagues put it: the day Jesus began working from home.
