We are saddened by the sudden passing of Chick Corea. For over 25 years, Chick performed his music and graced the Catalina Jazz Club stage which he called "Catalina’s Livingroom. I was personally honored to recently work with Chick and his artist relations rep Kirby on the "Save Catalina Jazz Club" GoFundMe project this past fall. We filmed a special PSA for us to help Catalina Jazz Club raise funds, and to announce his upcoming shows at the Club. Chick and his team lead by... Kirby were wonderful and delightful. Mr. Corea even performed a piano solo for us as part of the filming. It was wonderful. Marc Saltarelli did a great edit in that. Although in the PSA, Mr. Corea had announced his return to Catalina Jazz Club for Oct 2020, it was rescheduled to Summer 2021 due to Covid. As it turns out, our filming of the PSA was sadly the last time that Mr. Corea worked with us, and it fills my heart with joy knowing that it was in an act of service to Catalina, Manny and the CJC. At Catalina Jazz Club, Mr. Corea performed with the famous Elektric Band and with special guests like Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Bela Fleck, and Herbie Hancock, or simply by himself at the Piano. The staff, crew and audiences at Catalina Jazz Club treasured Chick Corea. He will be loved always. Sending my condolences to his wife Gayle, his children, and Kirby. Rest in Peace. We are saddened by the news of our friend. Grammy-winner and founding member of The Supremes, MS. MARY WILSON, has passed. As you know, Ms. Wilson was originally set to headline our upcoming A CATALINA SOULFUL VALENTINE! concert scheduled for this Fri, Feb 12th at 6pm. The show will go on in her memory. Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, Ms. Wilson chose to pre-record her performances last week at her home in Las Vegas and sent them to us in Los Angeles. We are proud to... include those performances on Friday Night in honor of our beloved founding member of The Supremes. Mary Wilson was a champion of the @CatalinaJazzClub in Hollywood. She was excited to be apart of our effort to save our stage. Also, our team at CIP had the honor to present her at @TheFord in 2016 alongside Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ms. Loretta Devine and Ms. Jennifer Holliday.
