This driver decided to answer a text message and this was the result. Sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for approximately 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that’s like driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed. Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States. The fight to end distracted driving starts with YOU. Make the commitment to drive phone-free today & enable Driving Mode on your smartphone. #phonefree #donttextanddrive #distracteddriving #drivingmodeon #notextisworthalife #nhtsa #driveresponsibly #chp #chpventura #chpcareers

In a proactive effort to combat property crimes in Ventura County, the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force (VenCATT), coordinated a countywide arrest warrant sweep of prolific auto theft and property crimes offenders. The operation, dubbed Operation Clean Sweep, took place on February 24, 2021, and was a collaborative effort amongst numerous Ventura County law enforcement agencies. Officers and detectives from the California Highway Patrol, the Ventura County District At...torney’s Office Bureau of Investigations, the Department of Motor Vehicles Division of Investigations, the Simi Valley Police Department, the Ventura Police Department, the Oxnard Police Department, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Santa Paula Police Department all took part in the operation. The operation culminated in the arrest of 19 individuals, primarily for property crimes related arrest warrants. One individual was apprehended the night before the slated operation date while occupying a stolen vehicle in the City of Oxnard. In addition to the arrests, law enforcement teams conducted a total of 23 probation compliance searches throughout Ventura County. VenCATT reminds Ventura County residence to continue their efforts in discouraging vehicle theft. Continue your efforts to deter thieves by parking in secure or highly visible locations, locking vehicle doors, using alarm systems, not leaving the vehicle unattended with the engine running, and reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement. Suspicious activity can also be reported anonymously by contacting Ventura Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477, directly to VenCATT at (805) 419-0455, or via email at [email protected]. #warrants #arrested #felony #misdemeanor #alliedagencies #youcanrunbutyoucanthide #venturacounty

SR-1 (Pacific Coast Highway) is the longest state route in California and is an amazing scenic drive. Please drive safely and pay attention to the posted speed limit signs. We have seen an increase in vehicles traveling well over the posted speed limit. Ventura CHP will continue to patrol this area and take appropriate enforcement action. #pch #pacificcoasthighway #slowdown #speedlimit #55mph #speedingticket #venturacounty #venturachp

Ventura CHP stopped by the Boys and Girls Club today for Walk and Ride Your Bike to School Day. The kids received CHP stickers and CHP reflective slap bracelets. We talked about the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike and staying alert while safely walking in crosswalks. Pedestrian and bicycle fatalities accounted for nearly 33 percent of all traffic-related deaths in California in 2018. When driving, please slow down and don’t drive distracted!
