Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to be aware of street flooding during the rain showers. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive with caution. Roads are slick and some areas may have large pools of standing water. The US National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area/Monterey California is urging motorists to remain vigilant while using the roadways even where there are no evident signs of severe flooding, as driving conditions may deteriorate rapidly due to the continued rainfall. State's regional stay at home order extended In a statement issued by the California Department of Public Health, the State has extended its Regional Stay at Ho...me Order, which was originally set to expire on January 8, due to the region’s ICU bed capacity remaining below 15%. All current restrictions will remain in place until the Bay Area’s four-week ICU projection shows a capacity of greater than or equal to 15%. The state will assess the region’s ICU projections in the coming days and announce a formal decision on whether Bay Area meets criteria to exit the order. Overnight parking enforcement deferred for the holidays. The City will suspend residential overnight parking enforcement during the holiday season. As a courtesy, the overnight parking ordinance will not be enforced beginning Friday morning, December 18, 2020, through Saturday morning, January 2, 2021. Overnight parking enforcement will resume at 2 a.m., Sunday, January 3, 2021. At that time, enforcement of the overnight parking ordinance will continue by police parking officers. Overnight parking permits can be purchased online at menlopark.org/parkingpermits or at the Police Department. All parked vehicles without a parking permit will receive a courtesy warning. The purpose of the courtesy notice is to inform those who are unaware of the overnight parking ordinance.

San Mateo County under regional stay at home order eff. 11:59 p.m., Dec. 17 As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surge and ICU capacity declines, San Mateo an...d 10 other Bay Area counties are under a mandatory regional stay at home order that takes effect Thursday, Dec. 17, at 11:59 p.m. The order prohibits private gatherings of any size, except for outdoor church services and political demonstrations. Restaurants must stop offering in-person dining and can offer only takeout and delivery. Many businesses and activities must close, including salons and barbershops. Retail can remain open at 20 percent capacity. Nonessential travel and using hotels or short-term rentals for leisure is banned. The state of California announced the order as regional ICU bed capacity fell below 15 percent, a trigger threshold. Robbery suspects arrested On October 13, 2020, at approximately 3:24 p.m., Menlo Park police officers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred at Flood Park, located at 215 Bay Road in Menlo Park. Two juvenile victims called police and reported they were robbed by two men who were armed with a shotgun. The suspects took their personal belongings and fled the area. Suspects found in possession of stolen packages On September 30, 2020, at approximately 2:11 a.m., a Menlo Park police officer on patrol in the area of Sharon Road and Eastridge Avenue observed a black Mercedes-Benz SUV being driven with expired registration and the driver make an abrupt turn into a parking stall at the back of an apartment complex. Two occupants were in the vehicle and over ten Amazon packages on the back seat of the vehicle. The packages showed shipping addresses of ten different residences in the 600 block of Sharon Park Drive. The on-scene investigation confirmed the packages in the Mercedes-Benz were stolen. San Mateo County Health advisory stresses community actions to limit COVID-19 surge San Mateo County Health issued a new health advisory, with steps for communi...ty and individuals to limit the surge of COVID-19. The County makes these recommendations based on science and local case investigations. The focus is on reducing transmission from social gatherings and among household members. Health officials highlighted three key steps, and the science behind them, that everyone should follow. Health care practitioners countywide received the notice that lists actions for the public. These steps follow state health officials' advice and new science from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Pandemic fatigue affects us all, but these steps protect us all. Health officials emphasize three recommendations: 1. Always mask in public, particularly when talking 2. Insulate your household and any small, stable social bubble keep to 1-2 households only 3. The American Red Cross has assembled a team of volunteers trained to provide virtual support to San Mateo County families and communities who have suffered loss... as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic through its Virtual Family Assistance Center (VFAC). Visit redcross.org/VFAC to access this resource with special virtual programs, information, referrals and services to support families in need. The VFAC can also connect people to other community resources that may be available. People without internet access can call toll-free at 833-492-0094 for confidential and free assistance.

San Mateo County is the only Bay Area county not on the watch list, but San Mateo County Health officials say they expect the county to be added soon because of... two factors: the COVID-19 case rate and the variability of the local hospital census. IF San Mateo County remains on the watch list for three consecutive days, the state would require the closing of: Gyms and fitness centers Places of worship and cultural ceremonies, like weddings and funerals Offices for non-critical infrastructure sectors Personal care services, like nail salons and body waxing Hair salons and barbershops Shopping malls Health Chief Louise Rogers urges residents to slow down and double down on preventative measures, such as wearing face coverings, washing hands frequently, and avoiding gatherings.
