Whoops! This evening the driver of this vehicle accidentally mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal as she was entering the parking stall at American Valley Hardware in Quincy. Luckily, she is in good spirits and was not injured.

Just some info for everyone, as we get a lot of questions on what the different level of chain controls are in California. R-1 and R-2 are the most common condi...tions. A highway will often be closed before an R-3 condition is imposed. Some local areas may use variations of these designations. You must follow the directions on the signs posted for chain controls or any instructions given by Caltrans or CHP personnel at chain control check points, even if these are at variance with broadcast road condition reports or information contained herein. https://dot.ca.gov/travel/winter-driving-tips/chain-controls

Currently on SR-89-from from Graeagle to Little Truckee Summit chains are required SR-49-from Yuba Pass to Vinton chains are required ... SR-70- no restrictions US-395- no restrictions

CAUTION! SR-70 in the Belden area is unusually icy tonight. CalTrans in on scene. Traction material has been applied to the roadway. Please drive safe!
