Anaheim police homicide detectives have obtained a $1 million arrest warrant for 37-year-old Florin Raducanu who is suspected of shooting 42-year-old Aurel Trandafir last weekend. Raducanu and Trandafir both were visiting from Romania. On Sunday, January 24, 2021, at about 7:37 pm, Anaheim Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at Abby’s Anaheimer Inn, located at 1201 W. Trandafir was transported to a local area hospital where he died from his injuries. At the time of the shooting, Trandafir was wanted by Romanian officials for robbery. Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Raducanu. The minivan Raducanu used to escape the crime scene has been recovered. Last Thursday, Oak St (between Clementine & Anaheim Blvd) was officially renamed to Lehman Way in remembrance of Anaheim Town Marshal Charles F. Lehman - the first Anaheim officer killed in the line of duty. On July 23, 1872, Marshal Charles Lehman died from a gunshot wound he sustained after responding to a dispute over a card game at the Anaheim Brewery which at the time backed up to Oak Street. Now that area is the Vons shopping center on Lincoln & Anaheim Blvd. Charles... F. Lehman was born in Prussia in 1828. By 1870 he was living in Anaheim, married to Caroline and had a daughter named, Emily. In 1871, he served as Anaheim Town Constable, City Pound Keeper and Deputy City Marshal. In 1872, Lehman was elected as Anaheim City Marshal at the age of 44. On July 23, 1872, just two months after taking office, he was shot & killed. On month after his death, Caroline gave birth to their second daughter, Mary. We honor his service and ultimate sacrifice. #FallenOfficer #UltimateSacrifice #APDHistory #AnaheimPD #AnaheimHistory #Anaheim #DowntownAnaheim #150YearsOfAnaheimPD

Last night, an armed suspect, wanted for attempted murder barricaded himself inside an apartment and refused to peacefully surrender. The Anaheim SWAT team was activated. Our SWAT team is comprised of officers that have highly specialized training and equipment to resolve dangerous incidents. They are expected to maintain peak physical fitness, exercise sound judgement, and to think outside the box in order to bring peace to chaos. SWAT team members are spread out amongst va...rious details throughout the department in order to provide constant coverage of the city. From high risk warrant services to hostage rescue, our team is constantly training for any situation that could bring harm to the people we serve. Anaheim SWAT works closely with our Tactical Negotiators Unit in order to establish communications with suspects and the people they may be in contact with. They share a common goal, a peaceful resolution through compliance. The trained negotiators provide announcements at the onset of our operations to allow people an opportunity to come out safely. They are also used to negotiate with people in times of crisis to bring peace. We rely on our partners Anaheim Fire And Rescue to incorporate their firefighters as SWAT medics. They are attached to our team to provide the best medical support for officers, civilians, and suspects in hostile environments. They routinely train with us and share their lifesaving and first aid experience. Our SWAT medics are one of the most valued assets and we are proud to work alongside them. We use an array of chemical agents such as tear gas and pepper balls that irritate a non-compliant suspect’s senses. The intention of these agents is to cause compliance or to inhibit a dangerous suspect from harming our officers by diminishing their ability to see and fight. With the correct application, the effects can quickly be treated and dissipated. We always have our medics on standby to assist once suspects have been apprehended. Remember, these tools are only used because of non-compliance. After a lengthy standoff, the suspect was arrested an no additional civilians or officers were harmed. #anaheimpd #ThisIsTeamWork

About two weeks ago, an Anaheim resident posted an add on Offer Up indicating she was selling a digital camera and a Nintendo game. A potential buyer contacted the seller, and the two agreed to meet in a parking lot in the 5600 Block of Santa Ana Canyon Road. Upon meeting, the buyer threatened to shoot the seller, showed her a handgun concealed in his waistband, and then fled with the seller’s camera. We are happy to share that through the outstanding work of Officers Woo and Gulley and the Robbery Detail , the suspect in this case was identified and arrested. At the time of his arrest, the seller’s camera and a bb gun (pictured here) were located in his possession. The suspect has been charged with robbery, criminal threats, and narcotics related charges. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail at the Orange County Jail.
