Today, we along with OCSD - Rancho Santa Margarita Police Services, OCSD - South Unincorporated Patrol and Orange County Fire Authority had the special privilege to help celebrate an American hero’s birthday. World War II United States Navy Veteran, Harold E. Carter, celebrated his 98th birthday alongside his family and friends at his home in Coto de Caza. Thank you, VFW Post 6024 (Mission Viejo) and VFW Post 9934 (Dana Point) for coordinating this awesome celebration. Happy Birthday, Sir!

Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Arrest Last weekend, our graveyard officers conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Accord speeding 102MPH on I-5 S/B near La Paz Rd. Upon further investigation, the unlicensed driver, a 22 year old man from Long Beach, was arrested for DUI (alcohol and drugs) and was in possession of a loaded, concealed and unregistered firearm, as well as multiple blank prescription pads taken from a former employer. The man was booked into Orange County Jail. Excellent work, officers!

A reminder to not drive impaired Earlier this morning, the driver of this Land Rover lost control of their vehicle, veered off I-5 N/B, continued down the embankment, and landed on Avenida Palizada below I-5 - the driver was unharmed. The 24 year old female driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI (alcohol). Thankfully, no one else was injured.

The scariest things on Halloween? DUI drivers! Alcohol, cannabis, prescription medications, illegal drugs, or any combination of these, can impair your ability to drive and will result in an arrest if you are under the influence. Always designate a sober driver, take public transportation, or call a taxi or a ride-share service. There is always a better option than getting behind the wheel while intoxicated. Don’t let #halloween2020 turn into a nightmare.

On October 27, CHP Border Division Assistant Chief Ray Diggins was in the area of the Silverado Fire in Orange County and saw a group of rabbits running along t...he shoulder of SR-133. After stopping, he saw one rabbit was curled up, not running to safety with his friends and had multiple burns. Chief Diggins was able to rescue the rabbit and take him to a wildfire rescue in the area where he will receive treatment. #silveradofire #californiahighwaypatrol #wildlife #orangecounty #lawenforcement #statepolice #statetrooper #socal #caltrans #mydayinsd #savinganimals #bunniesarethebest See more
