Thank you San Bernardino County Transportation Authority - SBCTA for putting together this fantastic, informative video and inviting me/us to be a part of it. It is so important that the community is completely informed of the changes in roadway conditions for upcoming construction improvement projects. Great job guys! Good morning Fontana:) We’re out here again at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for a massive vaccination clinic. There’s a few things to remember when heading out to the site. This is by appointment only, there are no walk up appointments, and although they have addressed the traffic back up issue, expect the possibility of some traffic build up. Above all, I encourage everyone to plan ahead, bring snacks and water and use the restroom prior to getting in line. Let’s work together and be courteous as we get these vaccines distributed.

The men and women of the CHP Rancho Cucamonga Area Office extend our deepest condolences to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Deputy Thomas Albanese’s family and friends. Reposted from @lasdhq On Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 8:58 AM, Deputy Thomas J. Albanese, 41, was killed in an unfortunate traffic collision at the intersection of Del Amo Boulevard and Paramount Boulevard in the City of Lakewood.... Deputy Albanese was traveling northbound on Paramount Blvd., approaching Del Amo, when he attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle ahead of him. As Deputy Albanese entered the intersection, he was struck by a sedan traveling westbound on Del Amo Boulevard. The force of the collision was extreme, and Deputy Albanese died instantly. Deputy Albanese was a seven-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department. He started his career with the Sheriff's Department as a Security Assistant in 2013 in the Aero Bureau. In 2015, he took an oath of office to serve his duties as a peace officer faithfully and was assigned to Men's Central Jail. He went to patrol at Transit Services Bureau and then transferred to Lakewood Station as a Field Training Officer. Deputy Albanese's last assignment was as a Pico Rivera Station Motor Deputy but was working overtime at the Lakewood Station when the tragic accident occurred. In addition to his short but impressive career with the Sheriff's Department, Deputy Albanese was part of the Marine Corps, serving from March 2001 through March 2010. He served four tours in Iraq and was highly decorated. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said, Thomas touched the lives of many people while working in the Department. He received several commendations for his work in patrol and helping the citizens of Los Angeles County. Deputy Albanese is survived by his wife of 12 years, Erica, and his two young boys. He will be greatly missed by all of us in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Family. #RIP #EOW #fallenbrother #watchoverus #thinbluelinefamily

Today, February 25, 2021, we honor, remember and celebrate the life of Officer John Bailey. Officer John Bailey was struck and killed by a drunk driver while conducting a traffic stop on I-15 in Hesperia 15 years ago. He approached the stopped vehicle on the passenger side to speak with the driver. As he did so, another vehicle traveled onto the shoulder at a high rate of speed and struck Officer Bailey’s motorcycle, the stopped vehicle and the officer. The vehicle struck w...ith such force that the stopped vehicle was pushed back into the freeway and overturned. Officer Bailey succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and the suspected drunk driver was arrested, charged with vehicular manslaughter and received the maximum sentence. Officer Bailey was a veteran of the United States Army and the California National Guard and had just returned from serving a tour of duty in Iraq during the War on Terrorism. He had served with the California Highway Patrol for 11 years and was assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Area Office. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, parents and sister.

For those of you stuck in the traffic on I-15 this morning, this was the cause. All lanes of I-15 were closed for several hours due to a two vehicle collision. Thankfully, both drivers were transported with minor injuries. Crews worked tirelessly to clean up the roadway and recover the vehicles in order to reopen traffic lanes. Huge thanks to Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, San Bernardino County Fire, and San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for their assistance on scene. It’s great to have such amazing allied agencies nearby that are always there to help. Snow season is here!:). Rancho Cucamonga CHP and the folks up at Mount Baldy would like to remind everyone of a few things before you make the trip up the mountain: be prepared with chains for your vehicle and be familiar with how to install them. Campsites are closed due to COVID restrictions, so no over night camping. Travel up the mountain could be congested so expect long delays. Park only in designated areas. No parking along the side of the road. Parking at snow play is limited. Be respectful of the area. Pick up after yourself. Leave the area cleaner than when you got there. As always, roadway conditions could be hazardous, so slow down and drive with caution. Thank you and #drivesaferancho

In observance of the New Years holiday, our front office will be closed. It will reopen on Monday, January 4th. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend. Please remember to designate a sober driver if you plan on having a drink. Take care of yourself, and each other. #drivesaferancho

We’re looking for anyone with any additional information about this shooting.

CHP 15.12.2020

Although the rain has subsided for now, the roads may still be wet and there is still snow on Mt Baldy. Slow down and allow extra distance between you and other vehicles on the road. If you plan on traveling up the mountain, make sure your vehicle is ready. Make sure you have chains or 4wd, have a supply of food and water, and keep extra warm clothing in your trunk. #drivesaferancho

The line for the COVID vaccination event at the Auto Club Speedway is backed up to Cherry Ave and Roanoke Rd., just shy of 4 miles. For those in line, please be patient, they’re working as fast as possible trying to move the line along. Also, don’t block intersections or driveways. To those not yet in line, proceed safely to the end of the line. Don’t try to turn left or u-turn in front of everyone else to cut in line. Everyone is trying to get in to get their vaccine. We all have to wait our turn. #drivesaferancho

Today, San Bernardino County is hosting a massive vaccination event here at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. This is by appointment only, so if you don’t have an appointment you’ll be turned away. Rest assured, even though the line is very long, if you have an appointment, you’ll receive your vaccine. Just a reminder, please be patient, follow all traffic laws and follow instructions of those helping out.

With strong winds throughout the Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana areas, please be sure to slow down, allow plenty of room around big rigs and be aware of your surroundings while driving on the highways. High profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution when driving through the area especially if unloaded. Visibility could also be reduced due to blowing dust.

On Monday (Labor Day), Officer Mendez was busy at work patrolling a section of State Route 71 within the City of Chino Hills. During a check of his beat, he encountered a family in a disabled vehicle (out of gas). The temperature outside was 119 degrees. Officer Mendez invited the family to sit in his air conditioned patrol vehicle, while they waited for a tow truck. The family and their vehicle were transported to a gas station. Way to go Officer Mendez! #safetyserviceandsecurity #chp
