Weather Stories of the week: Elevated surf occurring across Orange County through this weekend Breezy winds and high combined seas across outer coastal waters Strong winds across mountains and desert slopes May Gray each night/morning... #CAwx See more
We are seeing a persistent marine layer this morning, but it's slowly starting to erode in portions of the Inland Empire. Clearing should begin to accelerate later this morning, with most areas seeing sunshine today. Some patches of clouds may stick around at the beaches.
Warm temperatures will continue tomorrow, but don't get used to it. Cooler conditions will return for the end of the week, especially for the mountains and deserts.
The deep marine layer has produced a few areas of drizzle this morning, mainly in San Diego County. Check out how much as accumulated below! https://go.usa.gov/xHtGp
Breaking with the norm of extreme heat records, yesterday actually left us with 3 new record LOW maximum temperatures for May 16th. In other words, the high temperatures at these locations were the lowest for May 16th since records began at each site.
Some rather strong opinions lately on our recent May Gray For those of you that aren't a fan of the cooler temps, we'll have a slight warm up over the next couple of days, with much sunnier skies as the marine layer shrinks. Won't last long though - deep marine layer and cooler weather slinging right back at us come late week.
Good morning! Here's a look at today's high temperatures. Highs will be near average close to the coast and slightly above average everywhere else.
Beautiful sunset taken from Imperial Beach this evening! Any other nice sunsets out there of our cool clouds?
Another relatively mild night for us tonight. Open up those windows and let the fresh air in!
Here's the latest weather briefing video from NWS San Diego (Tuesday-next Sunday). Enjoy! https://youtu.be/yv68ULoiRwQ
Our cozy cloud blanket above will help keep us on the warmer side tonight. Nighttime temperatures will trend a bit cooler through the first part of the week
In our professional opinion, it's a great cloud day! If you've been enjoying it, let us know by sending us cloud pics you've taken today.
Windiest conditions will occur early this afternoon, but Santa Ana winds will continue to be quite gusty through tomorrow afternoon. Please stay vigilant during these very dry conditions!
A brush fire that exploded in eastern Orange County Monday morning as winds pummeled Southern California prompted an evacuation order for thousands of Irvine residents and the partial closure of the 241 Freeway. https://ktla.com//wind-driven-brush-fire-sparks-in-santia/
8:30 AM | The #SilveradoFire continues to burn in Orange County. Please take a look below for more information.
The Santa Ana winds began between 2 and 3 AM this morning and have really increased.. Here are the peak wind gusts so far. Topping the list is 83 mph measured in the foothills of the San Bernardinos just east of the Cajon Pass (Marshall Peak)
Updated peak wind reports from around the area. Winds will transition to offshore late tonight. https://nwschat.weather.gov/p.php
Check out this hi-res loop of the strong Santa Ana wind event expected to unfold late tonight. The strongest winds will be thru the passes and canyons, where severe wind gusts will be likely. Strongest winds Monday starting at dawn.
It is rain report update time! We have had some spotty rainfall across the region today, and will continue through the evening. Let us know if you got any rain where you are! https://nwschat.weather.gov/p.php
Curious how much rain you got? Check out the rainfall summary here https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php To those who received a whole lotta nothing, we apologize.
Enjoy the cool & damp weather, tomorrow will be the complete opposite. Take this rainy Sunday afternoon to make sure your emergency kits are in tip top shape. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for early Monday through Tuesday afternoon.
RED FLAG WARNING has been issued, valid early Mon-Tue afternoon. Moderate-strong Santa Ana Winds and extremely low humidity will lead to critical fire weather conditions. Hazardous travel for high profile vehicles, blowing dust, and minor tree damage are also possible.
No signs of rain just yet, but we expect light showers to develop tonight and continue on and off through the day Sunday. Nothing earth shattering in terms of accumulation, but hey, at least there's accumulation. We'll take it! For reference, San Diego has not received measurable rainfall since June 29th when they picked up 0.08".
Be prepared. Before a flood occurs talk to your insurance agent about purchasing or renewing flood insurance, in most cases it takes 30-days before a policy can take effect. http://bit.ly/floodprepca
Okay still looking for light rain and drizzle for the weekend with some showers late Sunday when a cold front moves through. After any rainfall it will become much drier and breezy on Monday.
