APISWC OCTOBER EVENT: Webinar Panel Discussion: Supporting International Students' Mental Health Needs in Light of the COVID-19 Pandemic Date & Time: Saturday,... Oct 3, 2020, 2:00 - 4:30 PM PT Cost: Free event. No CEUs. RSVP by 10/2/2020: https://rb.gy/smxud1 How to best support our people becomes one of the most important topics after the rise of COVID-19. Doing this in the Bay Area alone is not enough. As a Council focused on cultural issues, we should initiate more work around this particular issue. A few organizations have been trying to raise awareness and to make changes on the community level. Some have created webinars to address the clinical piece. Why not bring clinicians together nationally to learn from each other and to adapt effective and appropriate practices? Panelists: *Dora Dui Chen, LCSW, CA-based Psychotherapist *Huilin Lai, LCSW, NYC-based Psychotherapist *Kaitlyn Kuo, Psy.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist in California and Taiwan *Shaozhuan Li, Ph.D., Staff Psychologist, University of California, Merced *Suchika Siotia, LMHCA, Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State Moderator: *Rebekah Gong, ASW, Bilingual Therapist in California and China Language: English Target Audience: Professionals (including, but not limited to: community leaders and organizers, school personnel, counselors, psychologists, social workers, therapists, teachers, etc.) Location: Virtual (Zoom). The link will be provided to registered participants approximately 24 hours before the event. Goals: To discuss the challenges and possible interventions when serving international students; to explore implications for future practices on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
