We had just decided to stop shooting when she asked for one more with her babe. Of course I agreed and I’m so glad I did. All the cuddles and face holds. I can’t even imagine what those last few days before baby number two arrives feels like. Must be a mix of excitement and grief. Excited for the lifetime of love and the bound you will all share. Grief for a chapter of just the two of you coming to an end. That’s the thing about motherhood, it’s always layered and never what you expect in all the best kind of ways.

This shoot was the first creative session I had done in a long long time. Truth is I don’t prioritize creative play like I used to do when I was just starting out. It’s an element of my work that I am trying to adjust. It feels good in my soul to just do my own thing once in a while. So I styled this shoot at @sparkstudiosoc and embraced the moody boho vibes that make my heart so happy. Shadows, textures, prisms, all the tricks. These are the days that set me back on track. That remind me why I love this work so much.

I have been taking photos of these guys for a long time and every session is so much fun. All their personalities are so different and it’s been such a joy to watch them grow. I have a very small family and their energy always makes me want ten more kids. A little bit of chaos but so much love. And can we just take a moment to applaud the fact that all of them are dressed to the nines? That in and of itself is always so impressive!

If you know me personally, you know my heart. If you follow my personal page, you know my politics. You know where I stand on things, I don’t shy away from talking about it. I don’t share that side on here often but I hope it’s clear that I want my business to be a safe and welcoming place. Multiple times this holiday season I have had clients ask me about my Covid safety measures and how I have been handling things in HB. They’re nervous to come to this city because they’ve... seen images of counter protests and heard that people don’t wear masks. I will always be open to those discussions because it’s important to me that you and your family feel safe and comfortable when you are with me. This city is big, it’s diverse and the loud voices of a few do not speak for us all. They certainly don’t speak for me. Your voice matters to me, who you give your business to matters to me and who you expose your kids to matters to me too. I think businesses, big or small, have a responsibility to be transparent about their stance on important issues. Just because I post pretty photos on here doesn’t change the fact that I run my company with a certain set of values. I want to stand on the right side of history. I want to fight for a better world for everyone. I want to fight for a world that believes science over politics. I want to fight for a world that is empathetic and kind. Where everyone has the same freedoms, the same choices and the same rights. I hope when we share our time together, you can feel that. See more

I’ve taken this little mans photo for the last three years. It’s so fun to watch your kids grow up in front of my lens. It’s definitely one of my favorite parts of my job. His Mama told me that taking photos with me is a tradition for them. I had never thought about it like that, made me all kinds of emotional. Feeling like Olaf in the Christmas special. If you know. This next week I have ten shoots, yep I have no idea what I was thinking but hey it’s going to be a wild fun ride. That being said, when I am out shooting it means I’m not in my office as much. So if you’re waiting on a gallery or email from me just know I will get back to you as soon as I can. It’s a crazy time of year and patience is so so appreciated. This one woman show can be a lot to manage sometimes but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have always considered my mom to be one of my best friends. My soul mate in a way. I know we were meant to walk this life together. Now that I am a mom myself, I can only hope that my children feel that way about me one day.
