Elks of Vista Lodge #1968, My prayers are that you are all healthy and relatively happy during this change in our daily routine. After checking the daily San Di...ego County COVID-19 update, I can report that as of this morning there are 55 total cases in San Diego. 7 full recoveries, and 0 Deaths. These Cases include: 3 Sailors at the Naval Base 2 Marines at MCAS Mira Mar 2 SDSU Students who just returned from Italy 2 Non-Residents, and 1 North County Fire Fighter And the rest are a variety of San Diego residents Please keep them in your thoughts and on your Prayer Lists. Also, the County Health Department has placed restrictions on groups of over 50 people meeting, and the closure of all Bars, and restricting restaurants to take out service only. There for the Vista Lodge will be closed to all members and non-essential staff at least until the end of March, or until the County lifts their current restrictions. Thanks goes out to COB Tom Smith and to Club Manager Ed Wielder for preparing the Kitchen to be closed and not in service for a while, so we can count on minimal service costs. Dependent upon the reaction of the new members in the que for initiation, the Thursday meeting will be held with Officers and Initiates only. (Officers your dress will be black Lodge Shirt) This meeting will be short and will be held to Initiate the new members with all Lodge business being tabled until the next scheduled meeting. In conclusion, most of you know that my Son Nicholas is currently on the forefront of this fight as his company is manufacturing and supplies many of the testing kits being used Nation wide. His advice is what I am sending to you. No don’t Panic! Live your lives as is your normal. Take the precautions. Stay 6 feet from each other. Sanitize your hands and don’t touch your face. Wash your hands and arms with soap and warm water for 20 seconds, Do not panic. You will not use or need 100 rolls of toilet paper. Stay well my friends, pray for and take care of each other. Remember Elks are never forgotten and never forsaken. I will keep you updated as things progress. Fraternally, James Leitholf.

Robert Duitsman, GER Advisory Committee Endorsed Candidate for GER Grand Forum Board of Grand Trustees... Grand Lodge Committees Special Deputy Grand Exalted Rulers District Deputy Grand Exalted Rulers State Presidents State Secretaries All, Like you, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is monitoring the rapidly evolving Coronavirus, COVID-19, outbreak. As the situation continues to unfold, here at the national headquarters, we are complying with the local, county and state public health announcements. Also, we have implemented the following CDC guidelines on practical ways to prevent the spread of infection and we hope our Local Lodges and State Associations will do the same: No shaking hands, hugging, knuckle bumps or high fives. Keep a safe distance from others. Six feet when possible. Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. No soap? Use hand sanitizer (6095% alcohol based). Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover your cough or sneeze into the bend of your elbow or a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Stay home when you are sick and avoid close contact with people who are sick. Encourage others to do the same. With regards to the national convention, which is scheduled for July in Baltimore, Maryland, the Convention Commission is closely monitoring the corona virus situation in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. Should the situation worsen, the Commission will review all facets of the convention and, if needed, will not hesitate to recommend the event be cancelled out of caution. The Grand Lodge is hoping for the best and that action will not be needed. The goal is to make any decision as soon as possible. We all need to keep in mind that the health of our Members, spouses, friends, volunteers and employees is paramount. Let's be vigilant in our efforts to keep one another healthy! Bryan R. Klatt Grand Secretary Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Of The United States of America 2750 North Lakeview Avenue Chicago, IL 60614-1889 (773) 755 - 4708
