Victory for freedom of religion and the United States Constitution! Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the opinion of the Court. Multiple concurring and dissenting opinions. The holding is that if a state subsidizes private education, it cannot deny the subsidy to school just because it is a religious school. If you follow the US Supreme Court, you will not be surprised that Justice Roberts was joined by Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh, with Ginsberg, Kagan, Breyer and Sotomayor dissenting.

Is not very often that you can change the mind of a judge after he or she has issued a "tentative" ruling. However, when you do, it's a lot of fun! http://www.chapmanlawyer.com/how-to-change-a-judges-mind/

I know that Trump is talking about at least potentially a partial government takeover of private enterprises that may be in trouble. In my humble opinion, that would be a dangerous development. I love to see how the market responds to the natural forces of supply and demand as outlined in the article below. I realize the suffering is not over yet but I believe the long-term consequences of a government takeover of private enterprise would be far worse than the short-term bene...fits. There is no doubt that free competition is injurious to businesses that, despite their best efforts, fail in the competition. I personally believe that history shows that the government is the worst monopoly and weakest competitor as an alternative. Freedom includes the freedom to fail. Many scholars and business leaders have recognized and extolled the unique benefits of a system that allows growth through failure. (e.g., J.K. Rowling Speaks at Harvard Commencement: https://youtu.be/wHGqp8lz36c.) Also, every time we turn to big brother/government to help the poor and the needy, including saving failing businesses, we deprive charitable individuals (and even billionaires and large corporations) from developing a true spirit of charity which is giving of your own means, not someone else’s. I would enjoy some good, honest, friendly debate on this topic as long as we respect each other’s opinions, and do not label someone an idiot, moron, or immoral because they disagree with us on our politics. I certainly do not claim to be an expert on this topic or much of anything but I am curious and enjoy a good friendly debate. Who knows, if we have open minds, we might even learn something from each other!

How many of us believe that government is better at solving problems than private enterprise? And yet we unwittingly and reactively turn to government to do so on a regular basis.
