For new/er coaches looking to make a strong impact Thought I'd make this post after discussions I've had with a few people recently regarding problems... they've encountered in the early stages of getting their businesses ramped up. A coaching business is often free from overhead and physical assets, but your two greatest assets will be your brand and your knowledge. You should always be investing into both. You should respect and value knowledge. Knowledge is meant to be shared, but it won't always come free. You should be buying books, paying to attend seminars, and paying to obtain information from other sources. Said above, you should be investing in quality knowledge to build something that a future client would be happy to invest in (aka, pay you). What you've done for yourself doesn't matter as much as what you can do for others. Sure you gained 50 lbs of muscle and are now a great bodybuilder. 45-year old Mary with 3 kids needs to lose 20 lbs and avoid T2D... she doesn't really care how you placed at Nationals or how shredded your glutes were on prep. What can you tell her in terms of knowledge, to help her? Don't bite off more than you can chew. As you see more and more clients you'll see how knowledge builds like pyramid blocks, with the tougher cases at the top which rely on your knowledge of many inner working pieces. Master your foundation first, before attempting tougher cases. There is no perfect client. Most clients are headcases who are confused and needing leadership. That's why they pay YOU to help and lead them. So expect to "smh" most of the time but be patient because the stuff that comes easy to you may not seem easy at all to them. Stay organized and have rules. You need to have certain days where you set aside for your coaching business if you're still working a full-time job. You need to set times and methods of communication that your clients may reach you at. You need a check-in process and a check-in format to control the flow of information. Don't get too friendly with clients. Coaching has led me to build many great friendships but the majority of my clients are clients. However, if it feels like a friendship that's a good sign of relationship building and service, both of which can't hurt but you still need to maintain a professional boundary so your authority isn't eroded over time. Results matter above all. Service is a tie or a close second. Most clients are loyal, but if you can't deliver results they will eventually leave. Give back. Put out free information, keep developing content which matters to those you are trying to help. Answer DMs, etc. However, maintain boundaries and remember your value. Giving back doesn't mean giving away. Getting certified is only the beginning. Experience will be your real teacher. However, do get all the necessary "legal check marks" in place - certifications, insurance, a business entity, work with a CPA, etc. Hope this helps.
5 months of hard work @allieerochaa is looking incredible and cruising thru the final weeks of her prep. Can’t wait to see the final package!
Late post but this dude deserves a shoutout. #MondayMotivation goes to Cliff , he’s down over 50lbs and is just getting started. You’ve earned my respect bro keep up the great work @ The 12 Costa Mesa
Watch this space, @allieerochaa has got big things planned! Training 5x week, 3 cardio sessions, and hitting her macros daily.
#TransformationaTuesday This girl right here has put in incredible over the last year and deserves some recognition. I’ve watched this girl do a complete 180 physically, mentally, and emotionally and I’m blown away by how strong you’ve become. @mariiiaaa_mag @ Buettner Personal Training
#MondayMotivation Need to highlight some of the hard work @dodiesy.art has been putting in lately. We’ve only made a few simple changes to diet and increased the intensity of his training sessions and he is looking incredible. Peep him on my ig story later this week
CHECK THIS OUT This is what’s possible in just 4 short months when you TRUST THE PROCESS and put in the work! 30lbs of fat GONE! Courtney first stared training with me back in February , after going through a very difficult year, we worked to get her lifestyle habits in check and get her body working for her. Digestive issues at the beginning was another set back but we dealt with it. It wasn’t easy, she complained, (a lot ) but through it all kept pushing and pushing. Y...ou inspire me Courtney big congrats @c0u.gar @ Buettner Personal Training See more
Time under tension is one of the most important elements of hypertrophy training. Another is making sure you use a full range of motion. @gboldoni is doing both perfectly. It’s no wonder with her with her consistency and dedication she looks so good!
She just keep grinding and the fat keeps melting off. Down aver 22lbs of fat in less than 3 months. Fantastic results from @c0u.gar. #transformation #fatloss #macros #carbcycling #diet #strengthtraining #results #girlswholift @ Buettner Personal Training
Here’s a common mistake I see a lot during deadlifts. I broke these down with a client as you can see here, when dropping the hips, it’s common to see the hips move forward and shoulda to travel backward, not ideal. At the bottom of the movement, hips should be back and shoulders directly over the wrist. You’ll have all the leverage if you do so and weight will go up.
Friday night thoughts.. I love training. It’s awesome. I love that I get to help people achieve what they once thought was impossible. Seeing themselves how they’ve always wanted to. Not just physically, but mentally emotionally spiritually. I’m humbled and often amazed by some of the feedback I get and I’ve realized that building strength inside the gym is building strength outside the gym. Confidence, in your strength of all aspects, and your ability to handle yourself in any situation, can legitimately be built in the weight room. #StrengthTraining Thank you to all my amazing clients present and past for allowing me to do what I love
Wanted to highlight some of the amazing work Courtney has put into her training and nutrition protocol. This girl has been through so much this past year, and watching her make all these positive changes and staying strong is commendable to say the least. Down nearly 20lbs of body fat in just 8 weeks. Looking amazing @c0u.gar keep it up #TransformationTuesday @ Buettner Personal Training
