Today in Jewish History: The Passing of Rachel The matriarch Rachel died in childbirth on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 2208 from creation (1553 BCE) while giving birth to her second son, Benjamin. While Jacob and his family were on the road to Jacob's ancestral home in Hebron (after a 22-year absence), she gave birth to a second son, but died in childbirth. Jacob buried her by the roadside, in Bethlehem; there, "Rachel weeps over her children, for they are gone [in exile]" (Jeremiah 31:14). Her tomb has served as a place of prayer for Jews for more than 35 centuries.

Dear Friends, We are all monitoring the news and fires that have impacted our community. Throughout the day we have been in touch with many families we know to ...offer assistance and we will continue to be available to all that may need any assistance. As the affected area has spread, thankfully our home has not been included in the evacuation zone we will remain in the neighborhood for as long as possible to assist those in need. In the coming hours and days we will address the needs as they arise, of those that were affected. We pray for the safety of the brave firefighters and first responders and we pray they will get the fires under control quickly. If you require any assistance or know of someone please don't hesitate to reach out to us. 714-693-0770 Sincerely, Rabbi Dovid and Stella Eliezrie Rabbi Levi and Naomi Blesofsky Chabad Beth Meir Hacohen, Yorba Linda, CA See more

Was a tremendous honor to participate at the State of the City of Yorba Linda. Our community honored our mayor, Dr. Beth Haney, @drbethdnp who is a friend and an inspiration. Highlighted were the extraordinary efforts over the last year to lead our community. Rabbi Levi Blesofsky delivered the invocation at this special evening. We salute the hard working individuals of the Yorba Linda City council and service members. They continue to protect, upgrade and make our city safe and productive. Mazel tov #yorbalinda
