Thursday Thought In many ways Step Seven represents a turning point in the recovery process. It forms a bridge between the inner work of the first six steps and the final steps, which emphasize outer workchanges in behavior. Our shortcomings may seem to clutter our personal road out of the past. Just because we are working the steps doesn’t mean that our life is as it should be. Will God really come into the mess and lead us out? God says, ‘Rebuild the road! Clear away the... rocks and stones so my people can return from captivity.’ The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: ‘I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. . . . I have seen what they do, but I will heal them anyway! I will lead them. I will comfort those who mourn’ (Isaiah 57:14-15, 18). God is our ultimate help in clearing the way to a better future. He looks forward to removing our shortcomings so we can better avoid being tripped up. When we come to him with humility, admitting that we still struggle with many of our shortcomings, he refreshes us and gives us the courage we need to continue the battle. He isn’t put off by the foolish things we do. He sees what we do but chooses to heal us anyway! He’ll keep leading us toward recovery, one step at a time. Step 7: We humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings. Life Recovery Bible

Success doesn’t come without discipline but God knows we don’t have have the strength alone. He will always give us the strength and endurance we need to get through if we just simply ask. When we assume the worst intentions from someone, we open ourselves up to an offense. Allowing an offense can then damage our contentment and the relationship. ... In reality, we all say and do some dumb stuff. When we approach others with the perspective that none of us are perfect, it is much easier to assume the BEST and keep our contentment intact. (Though this does not likely apply in codependent or abuse scenarios.) Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11 Do not take to heart all the things that people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you. Your heart knows that many times you yourself have cursed others. Ecclesiastes 7:21-22 With God’s help, we can control our response to other’s actions around us and avoid the extra work of an offense. #CR #CelebrateRecovery #Offense CelebrateRecovery.com

Often times going through a 12 Step Recovery process feels like you’re breaking your heart all over again. But true change comes by allowing God to break down our hardened hearts so that he can begin a good work and restore us in His image.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step recovery group. In CR, we ask the question of who will be in control of your life? You or Jesus? Contrary to po...pular belief, only a third of the people who come to CR have alcohol or drug issues. Most come for their hurts, hang-ups, or habits. There are 3 significant parts of the program that all point you toward Christ: The Large Group Meetings, Open Share Groups, and Step Study Groups. If you need a confidential and safe place to heal, consider attending a CR. You can find both in-person and online meetings on CelebrateRecovery.com. #CR #CelebrateRecovery #12Step

It does us no good to act like pain isn’t real. It is very real. Sometimes we cause it, sometimes others cause it. And just because we don’t feel it, doesn’t me...an it doesn’t exist. But the good news of the Bible reminds us that HOPE is just as real. But that’s not all! Even in times of trouble we have a joyful confidence, knowing that our pressures will develop in us patient endurance. And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope. Romans 5:3-4 #CR #CelebrateRecovery #Hope CelebrateRecovery.com
