November 1, 2020 Suffering is no longer a menace to be evaded at any cost. When it does come, no matter how grievously, we realize that it too has its purpose. It is our great teacher because it reveals our defects and so pushes us forward into the paths of progress. The pain of drinking did just this for us. And so can any other pain. October 30, 2020 There are more amends to be made, letters to be sent, Twelfth Step work to be done, responsibilities to be assumed, and honest talks to be had with loved ones. Life is meant to be lived by facing the challenges it brings. Otherwise, I’m not living, just existing. Life Is Meant to Be Lived, Spring Hill, Florida, September 1985, Best of the Grapevine, Vol. 3

October 28, 2020 I can no longer use the illness of alcoholism as an excuse for anything. There is a catch, however. If I fail to use my recovery in service to others, I will become sick again. Service Is the Reason, Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 1979, Best of the Grapevine, Vol. 2

October 27, 2020 I have no idea how I made it this long, or what has kept me sober. But if I were to guess, I’d say that it has something to do with the slogan, ‘Keep coming back -- no matter what.’ Keep Coming Back -- No Matter What, Salt Lake City, Utah, November 2000, In Our Own Words: Stories of Young AAs in Recovery

October 25, 2020 Truth is not a bludgeon to be used indiscriminately ... When I am asked for an opinion or advice, I give it to the best of my ability with as much gentleness, understanding, and tolerance as I can scrape up. Truth, Key West, Florida, August 1973, Best of the Grapevine, Vol. 1

Today we moved out of the building at 530 W . Commonwealth that has been our home for the past 12 years. The physical move was made so easy with the help of the men from Action Alliance. Many thanks George and Tamra for executing the physical move of the club belongings to temporary storage. Now that we have that part done we can concentrate on the future and finding a new home. We still have some meeting belongings at the building. If your meeting is missing their supplies please contact us to arrange a time to pick up by end of month. In love & service, Lynn C.

October 22, 2020 I’m learning to be a mother, a friend, a grandmother, and a sister. My friends are a close-knit support group, and they’re as near as the telephone. A Long Way Down, Arlington, Texas, July 1994, Best of the Grapevine, Vol. 3
