Process Art - all our little ones were given dot markers and heart shaped paper stuck to a bigger paper. The outcome - everyone has a different piece at the end .. Some wanted to cover the paper fully, one wanted to just use one color, one wanted just make few dots on the heart ! There is no one way to do this project . Art provides a way to express what the child wants to do and we as adults should resist the urge to put our ideas or thoughts into their masterpiece! The process is more important that the end product. The child should feel that they have done the entire art project !
Embrace the mess! Baking soda , water colors , vinegar, and some candy hearts and our little ones couldn’t stop playing with this .. The aroma from the candy hearts , the fizzing sound when vinegar was reacting with baking soda, mixing of colors - it was a pleasure to the eyes!
Creating our Valentine’s Day mail box! We used paint , dot markers , markers, stickers, foam shapes to decorate our Valentine’s Day mail box! We will be using this to add cards made by our little ones for their friends!

Helping the ducklings hatch out of their eggs! ‘How do you think you can help the ducklings hatch out of their eggs?’ When we asked this question the little ones immediately go let to work to help their ducklings come out as soon as possible so that they don’t feel cold inside! It was a lovely scene to watch them talk, explain their action, helping each other and the excitement on their face when they could see part of the ducklings. ... Once we helped all the ducklings out it was imaginary play singing the five little ducks song!
Another simple sensory bin with a lot of learning opportunities. We had laid out different kind of tongs for this sensory bin. We sorted based on colors, made some soups, transferred from one bin to another, counted them number of pom poms in each bin, discussed about the texture etc. When children are using these rings and tweezers, they are giving work to all those tiny muscles that are required before they can start to hold pens and start using scissors. It helps with their hand eye co ordination , visual discrimination, moving around the table to accomplish their tasks. We love sensory bins because it allows a lot of children to play at once. This gives them an opportunity to talk to their friends, wait for their turns, learn simple manners(can I have that tong please), helping each other.
