We are grateful to Terri Fields Hosler, MPH, RD, Director (retired) of Shasta County Public Health for her statements at North State ACEs Summit this month recognizing how little time providers have with each patient, your patient’s Adverse Childhood Experiences are what’s on your plate. Let’s spread the message that investing time in early detection and intervention can prevent negative health outcomes in the future, reduce repeat office visits, and thereby reduce spending. #TeriFieldsHosler, #ACEsAware, #reducespending

In a historic day for Behavioral Health, California Governor Newsom signed 4 pieces of legislation that directly impact Mental Health & Substance Use disorder treatment within our state. #SB803, #SB855, #AB2112, and #AB2256 These landmark bills help build a more robust behavioral health workforce and realize true parity in California. These bills also allow us to confront the crisis of despair among our youth who are experiencing #ACEs by expanding early detection and engagement services.
@Catalyst-Center1 concluded our ACEs Aware Community Listening Sessions this past month. Some key takeaways include: the willingness and urgency of cross-sector collaboration, the need for more support behind ACEs work regarding social determinants of health, and the hope that ACEs awareness becomes integral to providing holistic care.
