After the tragic January 9th Montecito Debris Flow in 2018, the residents of Casa Dorinda established an Employee Emergency Fund to show their appreciation for the extraordinary service and care they received while being evacuated from their homes. The Emergency Fund provides assistance to staff who are experiencing financial hardship due to unexpected emergencies. Many of our staff have greatly benefitted from this amazing program, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hand-made work of art shown here is from the daughter of an employee who received a grant during her time of need. With the reminder of the 3-year anniversary of the Debris Flow, it seems timely to shed light on the generous spirit of Casa residents and acknowledge our dedicated staff for their valiant efforts following these events.

The Montecito Retirement Association is pleased to announce that Casa Dorinda has established a planned giving program called the Sequoia Society, to recognize and celebrate members of our donor family who have the vision and generosity to include Casa Dorinda in their estate plans. Casa Dorinda is pleased to announce that twenty-three staff members, or family of staff, received generous scholarships from the Casa Dorinda Scholarship Fund. This fund is made possible due of the generosity of our residents and the collaborative partnership of the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara. This year, Casa Dorinda created a thank you video from a number of our awardees, and it is inspiring to hear their stories and learn how this fund has made a difference in their lives.

Casa Dorinda is celebrating the opening of the first phase of construction for the new Center for Personal and Memory Care. The creation of this state-of-the-art campus addition would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors and dedicated Legacy Campaign volunteers.
