We have been getting a few calls asking about COVID vaccines in the dental office. As of now, there is no plan for vaccines to be administered in private dental offices. Here’s what we know: Dentists in California are now authorized to vaccinate patients for COVID-19 under a public health emergency waiver approved Monday by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Qualified dentists will need to undergo training that covers vaccine administration and management of adverse reactions. The vaccinations are expected to take place in hospitals and designated vaccination sites, rather than dental offices, to help with surge capacity at clinics and vaccinations sites.

Hello CDG family! Gov. Newsom’s new Regional Stay Home Order does/will NOT affect dentistry. Your appointments still stand and we look forward to seeing you! While we have sincere and deep sympathy for any and all small businesses affected by these repeated restrictions, we are thankful to be able to continue teaming with our patients to maintain and/or achieve optimal dental health, which is very important for your overall systemic health. We respect everyone’s differing ...levels of comfort in these trying times, but rest assured that we remain dedicated to our strict and elevated policies concerning your and our safety. We continue to screen every patient and staff member daily. We always wear more than the minimum PPE as we provide your care. We allow time and physical space between appointments/treatment for very thorough cleaning and disinfection. We maintain our HEPA filters in every room and HVAC system. We continue to provide our treatment thoroughly but in a modified manner in order to reduce aerosols in the room. Lastly, we remain available to address any and all questions or concerns you may have. We thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and your dedication to yourselves, each other, and to us regarding safety, positivity, and reassurance as we all continue to navigate these difficult times. You have our sincerest appreciation! A small summary: - Gov. Newsom’s Regional Stay Home Order will be in effect for a minimum of 3 weeks following a region that drops to less than 15% ICU availability. - Solano County is part of the Bay Area Region and as of this date remains above 15%. - Alameda, Contra Costa County, Marin, Santa Clara, and San Francisco counties (as well as the city of Berkeley) have all implemented the Stay Home Order prior to Gov. Newsom’s Order. Solano County has NOT.

Hello CDG family! The Calif Dental Assoc and the American Dental Assoc have responded to the recent WHO recommendations. The World Health Organization (WHO) Aug. 3 guidance advising that routine non-essential oral health care, including oral health check-ups, dental cleanings and preventive care, be delayed has raised questions that CDA is seeking to clarify. The WHO provides guidance worldwide, and its recent document Considerations for the provision of essential oral h...ealth services in the context of COVID-19 is not specific to California. Guidance from the CDC, California Department of Public Health and CDA Practice Support provide resources and tools to help dental teams practice safely during the pandemic. The American Dental Association released the following statement regarding WHO’s recommendation to delay routine care: The American Dental Association (ADA) respectfully yet strongly disagrees with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendation to delay routine dental care in certain situations due to COVID-19. Oral health is integral to overall health. Dentistry is essential health care, states ADA President Chad P. Gehani, D.D.S. Dentistry is essential health care because of its role in evaluating, diagnosing, preventing or treating oral diseases, which can affect systemic health. CDA will share the latest updates regarding WHO’s recommendation as they become available.

Given that the WHO recently addressed dental visits, we at CDG would like to reassure our patients that we are continuing to follow very strict guidelines to maintain a very clean environment and to protect our staff as well as patients. We continue to follow the Calif Dept of Public Health, the CDC, and the Calif Dental Assoc guidelines for providing dental care. We also continue to practice extreme personal care outside of work hours. When you visit our office you will s...ee all staff wearing masks, we screen ourselves for symptoms as well as patients, we perform teeth cleanings without ultrasonics to avoid generating aerosols, we treat cases with intention of avoiding future harm to your dental and systemic health. We continue to go above and beyond in our sterilization and cleaning strategies, we run HEPA filters in every room and central fans, and we will happily reschedule anyone who doesn’t pass all of our screening questions. We value all of our extended CDG family and we thank you for putting your trust in us and remaining compassionate as we all navigate this together! See more

LATEST COVID-19 CLOSURE ORDER DOES NOT IMPACT DENTAL PRACTICES Today Gov. Gavin Newsom took an additional step to slow the transmission of COVID-19 by closing indoor operations for many business sectors throughout much of the state. At this time, these restrictions do not affect the provision of essential health care services, including dental care. ... Here at CDG we continue to follow strict protocol to keep our patients, staff, and families safe!

As stated in our letter, you will notice some changes when you visit our office! We are doing our best to keep you and ourselves safe while following guidelines from the CDC, OSHA, and CA Dept of Public Health. We are open 5/19-5/22 from 9:00-1:00 for limited emergency procedures. We will be open 5/26-5/29 from 9:00-3:00 for limited urgent procedures. We will be open starting 6/1 from 8:00-5:00 for limited procedures and preventative cleanings.... All elective procedures are still advised against by dentistry’s governing bodies until further notice. We greatly appreciate your patience and compassion as we begin to call patients for the appropriate treatments. We realize this is an inconvenience for patients, but it is also a big inconvenience for us to limit what we love to do. We miss you all and hope to see you soon!

Dear CDG Patients and Families, We sincerely hope this letter finds you and your family in good health! 04/28/2020 UPDATE: As the Solano County Public Health Department has extended its shelter at home order through May 17th and Governor Newsom's order to shelter-in-place is still indefinite, CDG will remain closed during this time. OUR PLAN IS TO REOPEN ON TUESDAY, May 19, but we must remain adaptable to the fluidity of the current situation. We realize that this is an inconvenience and is not a situation that any of us want, but it is still needed in the interest of patien...t safety, as well as our own. Please also know that we are exhausting all avenues to obtain the newly REQUIRED protective gear for us to be able to provide dental treatment, but there is a shortage in this country that we unfortunately are being forced to navigate. We cannot reopen until we are able to safely provide treatment. IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED DURING THIS TIME OF CLOSURE, IT IS CANCELLED AND YOU WILL RECEIVE A CALL AT A LATER TIME TO RESCHEDULE. There is no doubt that this is disruptive, but we must remain committed to the safety and health of our patients, staff, and families. We thank you for your continued cooperation and compassion. Non-urgent messages may be left by calling our office at 707-745-8002. If you are a patient of record and have a true dental emergency, a message can be left on our emergency line at 707-742-3431. Stay safe and protected!
