We can’t say thank you enough to our kind and generous community. The evacuations have been lifted for the Carmel and River fires, but our hearts are still with the community of Big Sur. Shock is the only word I can think of to use as I write to you today. In the last couple of days, my mom lost her home to wildfire. She is the heart of our little inn. As of now, we are breathing the smoke from the Carmel Valley fire, Dolan fire in Big Sur, and River fire near Salinas. As my mom said yesterday, your house is not your home. She has been baking zucchini and banana bread for all of our evacuees and bringing a little love and feeling of home to them amidst her... own personal loss. I am proud to be the daughter of such a strong woman. To our guests, we are currently ONLY open to evacuees. If you haven’t received a cancellation call from us yet, you will shortly. Cachagua Fire is the amazing local volunteer fire department currently risking their lives and their own homes to save our community. You can donate to them at Cachaguafire.com/support. This Club Saves Lives is a local organization, run by amazingly caring people, getting assistance directly to those who need it. You can find them @thisclubsaveslives Just as we all had started to get our heads above water from Covid-19, our community has been dealt a devastating blow. 20k people have been displaced from just the last evacuation order.
