Black Existential Musings: an Evening Talk with Artist/Writer Mark Doox Don't miss this talk by Mark Doox, hosted by the FSU Department of Art History. This live event was held on October 14. Mark Doox is a writer and narrative based visual artist whose mixed media acrylic collage paintings use aspects of Byzantine and early Italo-religious icons as the basis of his icon styled artwork that he calls Byz-Dada (Byzantine Dadaism.) There's still time to sign up for Louise Victor's workshop, "Representations of Otherness: Monsters, Devils and the Roots of Fear". Taught online on October 27 & October 28 from 2-4pm (PDT), this workshop explores the visual history of fear and danger of the unknown. In this workshop, participants will cover the earliest history of the Greeks and Romans, John Madeville’s travels and reportage, the demonization of Jews, all the way through to present day reactions to immigrants.
