Today, as we closeout March Women's History Month, CNHS honors the 2018 Women's Soccer CIF Northern California Championship Team! On March 10, 2018, the Cardinals defeated Bradshaw Christian 2-1 to bring home the Northern California Division 3 Championship. The Cardinals are also the 2019 and 2020 North Coast Section Division 4 Champions and the 2020 North Bay League Champions!

CNHS has been blessed with an exciting opportunity in lieu of the 'final paddle raise' which would have taken place at our live auction last week! CNHS has received a $50,000 matching gift as we raise funds for athletic improvements to our gym, men's locker room, softball facilities, and field lights (required by the county)! Today in Women's History we honor Katrina Swenson-Aguirre (Class of 2021) and her amazing community service work! For her Community-Based Service Learning (CBSL) project, Katrina volunteers at the After School Players Program at St. Rose Catholic School. This program allows K-8th graders to express their creativity through acting, singing and dancing in a comfortable environment. She has worked hard to insure freedom of expression through art forms despite the challenges of virtual learning. Amazing work Katrina!

Happy Feast of Saint John Henry Newman! Today is a very special day for our community as we honor our beloved patron and ask his heavenly intercession for our needs. Bishop Vasa joined us on campus for Mass this afternoon and reminded us of how far we've come and encouraged us to take St. John Henry Newman's lead in life. This date also marks the 3-year anniversary of the destruction of most of the CN campus due to the Tubbs Fire. We are encouraged and hopeful as we rebuild and plan for the future of our school and students! For these reasons, Cardinal Newman High School has chosen this date as our "Day of Giving". The Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa provide us with a prayer and some sacred music in honor of Our Lady's feast day.

We began our "Feast Week" gathering photos of beloved pets from our community to celebrate the patron saint of animals, St. Francis of Assisi (feast day Oct. 4). Thank you to so many for contributing! Our feast week continues with two more special celebrations and we hope you can join us.

The collage below shows some of the random acts of kindness done recently by some of the CN faculty and staff members! We picked up trash, fed animals, left plants for our CN neighbors, gardened, cleaned up our campus, shared baked goods and snacks and more! Students can do their own kindness walks for service hours too. There are also two Community Based Service Learning Projects looking for help - a diaper drive for the Child Parent Institute and a fundraiser for the Marcu...s Johnson Foundation. We pray for the safety and protection of our CN community during this ongoing fire fight! To those of you that have been displaced and even lost homes, we are here for you! We will get through this together! Many blessings to those living in Sonoma and Napa Counties.

A little too close for comfort as a fire broke out close to campus this afternoon! There were boots on the ground, planes and helicopters in the sky, and fire crews had this contained in about an hour. There were no evacuations thanks to the quick response of our first responders! Blessings to these fire crews as we enter a hot week-end and the start of the "real" fire season!
