Team Tuesday: Introducing, Lilia Meza, Family Advocate! We have been fortunate to have Lilia as part of our CAP family for over 7 years now. As Family Advocate, she is in charge of making toys, organizing material and giving instructions to families in the AVANCE early education program. You may recognize Lilia from many of the fabulous videos she has created for a virtual learning program over the last year. Her creativity and passion has allowed her program to thrive and he...r students and families to continue to learn. We asked Lilia what she loves about the work she does and she said, I love what I do, for me this is not a job it’s a beautiful hobby. It is very satisfying to see the change that AVANCE brings to the families and to get to be a part of those achievements. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do for the community and agency. We are all so lucky to have you See more
Thank you Community Rebuilds for your generous support of our Sloan House and Harold’s Home, women and children’s shelters. We are very grateful for you
Education and information are key on the journey to being antiracist. Please share your favorite books on this subject below The good news is that racist and antiracist are not fixed identities. We can be a racist one minute and an antiracist the next. What we say about race, what we do about race, in each moment, determines what -- not who -- we are. Ibram X. Kendi, How to Be an Antiracist
Team Tuesday- We would like to give a big shout out to Monica Macias, Disaster Relief Case Manager! Monica has been an important part of the CAP team for over a year now and we are so fortunate to have her. She loves working with the community and helping people get through the disasters that our county has faced over the last three years. For Monica the best part of her job is when she, "Sees the look in their eyes or their happy voice when I tell them they were approved. Af...ter I see or hear this I know my mission with this client has been accomplished." In her free time, Monica loves to spend time with her family, listen to music, and sing and dance. She comes from a large family with 64 Grandchildren on her Dad's side and 32 Grandchildren on her Mom's! Thank you, Monica for all that you do for CAP and for our community. We are all grateful for the work that you do!

In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect.-Alice Walker Have a beautiful day, Sonoma County!
Did you know that last year, 63,508 Head Start parents received job training? Did you also know that Head Start parents have steeper increases in their educational attainment by the time their children are six years old? Head Start lifts families up, and the long term-impact is clear: Head Start's multi-generational and whole-family approach works. #headstartawarenessmonth
