Those who are within healthcare have recently heard of the published peer reviewed article in the American Journal of Vascular Surgery on the professionalism of female surgeons based on their social media profiles and photos posted there. One of the criteria used to determine this was photos posted of themselves in bikinis, Halloween costumes and I believe holding alcohol which were deemed as unprofessional. There was no mention of their male counterparts professional criteria & research. Surprise surprise female medical professionals are allowed to be human! The article has been retracted but the damage is done. I stand in solidarity with female vascular surgeons and medical professionals who have lives outside of work & post their lives on social media!
