CCC is celebrating the labor day weekend with the exciting announcement that we have been awarded COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Grant funds through United Way of San Luis Obispo County! Congratulations to all the awardees and thank you to the United Way of SLO County Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers. UWSLO pandemic relief funds will go toward maintaining our HIPAA compliant teletherapy/telehealth platform and personal protective equipment (PPE) for partial clinic re-opening preparedness (especially when technology is a barrier to service United Way of San Luis Obispo Countyike). This update is twofold in delivering some exciting news about CCC's Mindfulness for Resilience virtual group series and related community education offerings. The Thursday sessions have been so successful that facilitators John Elfers, LMFT/PhD and Jyll Maxwell, AMFT are keeping the group open indefinitely until the need changes. This is a broad reaching and valuable resource that we hope everyone is sharing far and wide. This 6 session series begins Thursday, July 30th from 11a-12p and will be hosted by Clinical Committee, Chair, John Elfers, PhD/LMFT (Certified MBSR Instructor). It is with a heavy heart and sense of commemoration, inspiration, and compassion that Community Counseling Center of San Luis Obispo County acknowledge the recent passing of the remarkable, Christina "Tina" Bailey. Tina is well known in our community as an educator, mentor, parent, wife, philanthropist, advocate, and leader. Tina served as Board President of CCC from 2019-2020 and was instrumental in the "Golden Anniversary Capital Campaign" completion and associated headquar...ters restoration and furnishings at the 676 Pismo Street property. The Bailey family has become close friends with the agency over the years (Tina served on the Board from 2015 to 2020)and our light and emotional support are sent their way. Phil Bailey, Tina's husband, also became a key part of CCC special event and fundraising activities, and our love goes out to him and their children. On behalf of the Board of Directors, volunteer clinical counselors, and our various supporters we ask that you all reflect and remember the essence of Tina's life and how she embodied the CCC mission. There is a lovely obituary publication that we are sharing the link to. The CCC will be doing more to commemorate and honor Tina's legacy, which we will be sharing more about soon.
